IPOD BATTERIES!!!

This is from the Apple web site - step by step instructions on how to tell if your IPod battery is really giving you accurate readings & holding a full charge. My question is, WHO THE FUCK IS GONNA GO THROUGH ALL THIS BULLSHIT??? Don't these bitches know I have a job? pissed

iPod Battery Test Instructions
  • Download the latest iPod Software Updater for your iPod model, and update your iPod software.
  • Open iTunes.
  • Insert an audio CD that contains average length songs (3 to 8 minutes), and import the songs into your iTunes library using the MP3 Encoder set at 160 kbps, or the AAC Encoder set at 128 kbps. (See "iTunes 6: How to Choose Import Options" for instructions.)
  • Fully charge your iPod by connecting it to the Apple iPod Power Adapter, or to your computer's FireWire or USB port using the cable that came with iPod.
  • Once it's fully charged, connect your iPod to your computer (if it isn't already) and update it with the album you just imported into iTunes.
  • Eject iPod.
  • Disconnect the FireWire or USB cable from iPod.
  • For iPod shuffle:

Turn iPod shuffle on by selecting either playlist mode or shuffle mode.
Press the Play button to play the album over and over until the battery is depleted.

  • For all other iPod models:

From the main menu, select Settings > Repeat and select the Repeat options until it says All.
Select Settings > Backlight Timer, then select Off.
Select Settings > EQ, then select Off.
Select the album you imported in the step 3, select any song, then press the Play button. The album should play over and over until the battery is depleted.
Make note of the time you first began playing a song on your iPod. When your battery depletes and iPod stops playing, jot down that time too.

Then you compare the data you've gathered geek to theirs. Here's a better idea: SELL ME SHIT THAT WORKS!@!! chair

sigh
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

screw all that...they should just own up to the fact that their batteries are shit anyway. i've only had my ipod mini for a few months and i already gotta go get the battery replaced. i've got it playing right now (it's hooked up to my computer's speakers) and the damn battery indicator's already showing that there's only 3/4 worth of juice in it. i've only had it on for about an hour or so!

if they actually did have solar-powered ipods, i'd be s.o.l. right now since there's barely been any sun lately. fit

I've had my (full size, 4th Generation) iPod for over a year and a half, play it nearly every day at work for at least six hours a day (and then some) since day one. I now work 12 hour days and still get over 10 hours out of one charge. I think this is pretty damn good, am I in the minority here?

if you buy a harmonica you can learn to play as many songs as you like on it and you don't need a battery for it. biggrin

Don't you people have it charging while playing when you're home?
I have a charging/playing cradle on my desk, another at work and another at the car so I only use batteries when I go out for a walk (always less than an hour)
My batteries might have been dead for a year and I wouldn't know smile

i never have my ipod playing when it's charging. i've got an adapter that i hook it up to to charge overnight--the only time i have it hooked up to my computer now is when i wanna upload/delete stuff off of it.

How much is a mini? I copped my Pocket VAIO for 200 shipped. I love this thing. It shows album art, lyrics, 40 GB, the remote is awesome, I don't understand why it wasn't more popular or why Sony stopped producing them.

Naw, I'm in MPLS, and work 12 hours in a windowless room, I haven't seen the sun since last September. I'm beginning to suspect the whole concept of a "sun" is just a crual joke...

It's Fugly and it's huge (especially compared to the mini) - I wouldn't touch it w/a 10-foot pole - and I'm a "Sony" guy (or at least, I used to be, they really just are not as innovative/cool as they used to be...)

Actually, nota bad idea, as the mini's are often going for the same price you bought it for, then you can get a nano! (which, upon release, made the mini's instantly collectables)

I could see how the size is a bit much to those that are looking for a small player. I don't find it ugly at all, personal taste I guess. I love it.

More power to ya! It's always good when someone is happy w/what they got.

I just cannot, in good concience, recommend anything other then an iPod (shuffle, nano, or 'regular') to anyone. The whole user experience and interface, from start to finish, is unmatched in the industry. As with any product, none of the iPods are perfect, their just over all better then any of the competition, and reasonably/competitively priced (arguably a first for Apple). And don't even get me started on the accessory market...

fuck. i just had issues with my ipod over the weekend and went into all the forums and did all of the voodoo they told me to and was never able to revive my ipod. so i took it to the genius at the apple store and he looked at it for about 2 mins and gave me a new one. lol luckily i had a little time left on my warranty otherwise i would've been up a creek. i went and bought the fucken extension for $60 though! mad i just didn't want to take a chance on it going kaput again and being stuck with a paper weight. anyways, if i had've known that i would've just drove my ass there and exchanged it for a new one instead of geek ing out for 12 hours. sigh

btw, i thought they'd replace your battery no questions if your ipod was a certain generation? they had a lawsuit or something over that issue, didn't they? confuse
