Just saw it. Oh, what a great movie! So moving Jake and Heath did an awesome job, really! I thought it would be awkward seeing them together like that, but it wasn't. Ok, the first love scene I was like... "ok".. but then it was just beautiful! I liked the ending too, soo sad and heartbraking. I don't understand how people can act like that, just because they think homosexuality is wrong. Really, sometimes I'm disgusted by how people can be!!

What are your thoughts about that?

I saw it last week. It was an overwhelming experience, since I deal with almost similar issues in my daily life. I cried...and cried!

Never been touched by a movie like BM did!

I havent seen Brokeback Mountain and to be honest i dont think i will, i just dont find it appealing.
I have seen Crash and thought it was really good.I havent seen any of the other Best picture nominations so i cant say if it was the best in the category but it certainly was an excellent film.

I feel bad for her because if you read between the lines of her misguided comments, you can really see her frustration. She makes some good points about the challenges of portraying certain characters. But overall the article is seriously skewed and biased, with some bizzare accusations.

I don't think her dismissal of Crash meant that she's thinks race relations are unimportant these days and that everything is hunky dory. But rather, movies dealing with racial issues aren't as controversial as movies featuring two lead stars in a gay relationship. Doesn't mean they are less important, it just means people are more comfortable viewing movies like Crash and talking about it than they are Brokeback.

Crash didn't do it for me. It felt really contrived and forced, right down to the lady stating her name was "Shaniqua Johnson". The characters just felt very generic and stereotypical. And you could almost see where the story was headed before it even happened.

yes, all of them, and in all honesty, i found crash to be the least among them. i would also have picked several that werent even nominated over crash including transamerica and walk the line.

Walk The Line and Brokeback were the two I thought were neck and neck. Joaquin's performance was inscredible, as was Reese Witherspoon's. The only thing that irked me about the movie itself was the progression of the story was a bit awkward - it dragged on at some points unecessarily, then rushed through the ending. I'm glad Reese won, she did an incredible job.

Transamerica was nice, and Felicity's performance was funny (not to mention well cast). But the movie dwelled alot on her relationship with her son, and her sex change kind of became a side story. Also, the couple scenes where her son tries to make out with her was just WRONG, lolol.

unfortunately, sometimes non-deserving pictures won. this year was very much akin to the year forrest gump (saccharine drivel) won best picture over two of the most iconic films of the 90s - pulp fiction and shawshank redemption, both of which are far far superior, not to mention two films that while flawed, are still better than forrexst gump - four weddings and a funeral and quiz show

I'm not sure in what situation I'll sit and watch sad love movie. I've seen gay friends go through good and bad relationships.Something would have to spark my intrigue and cowboys and nice scenery doesn't sound compelling.

I thought "Crash" was a good rental (period).I'm looking forward to watching Capote and a couple the others.

Understandable. When my Mom saw The Notebook, she went on an on about it to me and mentioned that I should watch it. I really can't stand love stories, I usually just watch horror. I still haven't seen it yet and can't bring myself to watch it, LOL.

I thought both "Brokeback" and "Crash" were worthwhile, but I didn't think either was a classic. Come to think of it, most of the Best Picture winners this decade haven't been very memorable.
