When I was younger I wanted to be a judge. Today...I think I'd get lots of criticism...I'd freakin tune out on some cases

i think i would be a good judge . i can get angry sometimes but i'm able to seperate my personal feelings from stuff.

I couldn't be either. I have a short fuse and a low tolerance for stupid people. If I was a judge, in the words of Richard Pryor, I'd be "giving MFers time like it was lunch". Same applies if I was a cop. A lot of thugs would be in ICU.

I am actually in the police academy right now....not sure if I'll actually pursue a traditional "cop" role....but its pretty impressive the amount of things you have to take into consideration EVERY time you interact with someone...not even so much from a safety standpoint (that is obvious), but from a legal standpoint....the wrong words, paperwork, even body language (yes, the way you stand) can loose you a case....even trials as significant as killing a peace officer

I wouldn't make the best judge but i think it might be fun for a day. I do enjoy the judges on law and order. I know i couldn't be a lawyer and i wouldn't even want to be a cop. That's just one of those jobs that i never even considered having.

I applied to the police academy in Ft. Morgan Colorado when I first moved to Denver - about 1992. I was only 22 at the time and I was psyched! I passed all my physicals and was really expecting great things. Then they pulled all of the cadet candidates into a large room before training and moreless said that if we were white or didn't speak Spanish, we were very unlikely to be accepted on the force. In hindsight, I realize such talk may be worth a lawsuit now. They wanted their police force to match the population, I assume, and there were about eight of us that knew to give up on the dream. I went on to other things, without regrets, but now they are practically begging people to go into the field!

I'd still consider it for a career, but know I'm not in the shape I was in then and am too old for the bullshit. I think I'd be like "Dirty Harry" and challenge people to go ahead and "make my day!" Nor could I handle the regiment of conformity that must go along with the job. Having gone into teaching, and dealing with 5th graders all day, I might be tempted to pull people over and make them stay in for recess, have a time-out, or request a conference with their parents. Maybe we should go back to spanking as a discipline tactic. I'd like to see a policeman pull someone over and then proceed to spank him or her for, say, speeding... Oh wait, what topic were we on?

I think most cops get a kick out of feeling superior
and degrading people
Why would anybody wanna write out speeding fines for people only ecceeding the max speed limit for only 5 mph , fe ?
That's just pathetic
It gives me aggressive tendencies



I got fined for drinking a beer in the park a few times
How can any self respecting person in his right mind write out a fine for something ridiculous like that ?
Don't they have more serious things to do
