OK, so I won't go see Hostel bucause of the violence, yet, I am intrigued at seeing the remake of Wes Cravens "the Hills Have eyes". What is wrong with me?

A little on the movie...

The original was very creepy as we see this family going across the country and because they are all bickering they run off the road and get into an accident. They are int he desert, in the middle of nowhere. Some go for help (the men) and some stay behind. Horrible things happen to them on both sides. There are these band of mutants. The original took a while to actually explain sort of how they got that way...as opposed to letting you know right up front with the remake. I think they ought to have kept it more of a mystery, as in the original you were wondering what these people are and what they are doing. They have their own language and way of doing things, which makes it that much creepier. They are obsessed with getting the baby that is part of the family and kill like the mom or something horrible to get it. It's pretty horrific.

Now theres the remake. Not really sure if one needed to be. It is certainly remaking a cult classic that isn't THAT well known, like TEXAS Chainsaw or Amityville Horror...so I doubt many will be "OH NO THEY TOUCHED THE HOLY GRAIL". So maybe it's a good thing that this is being given some light. I'm a LOST geek and one of the things that intriges me is Emile De Ravin is in it. So, I ask myself, am I going to endure 1.5 hours of gore and violence because I want to see Emile and am a fan of the original?


This guy MADE the original the CLASSIC it was.
