Scotlands Smoking ban starts today. as of 6 am this morning no more smoking in pubs, clubs, work places, bus shelters, tractors, restaraunts etc etc.
i havent smoked a ciggie in over 11 weeks now and this ban was one of the reasons why i am trying to quit. I just hope it doesnt affect small buisnesses like country pubs. In the long run it should make Scotland a healthier place. [Edited 3/26/06 2:15am] Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

i think you will find it goes smoother than people think.
it has been over a year here where you can't smoke in public places i'm sure the smokers feel persecuted but the whole point is to remove the normalacy of lighting up. i hear the bingo halls have time outs for smoke breaks but the doom and gloom scenarios of businesses and bars closing just hasn't happened. to you for sticking with it lemme kiss that nonsmoker mouth...

Now I honestly love it. I smoke soooo much less when I'm out drinking and it makes a huge difference in how I feel the next day. It also caused an unintended side effect. It caused all the bars in the city to get creative and they somehow all found ways to build patios or add sidewalk seating where people can smoke. It may still be rough in the winter, but all the other months it caused MPLS to actually have STREET nightlife which was just an awesome change to the bar scene I was in Chicago last month and the bars that you could smoke in felt SOOOO gross to me. AND, I chainsmoked like a mad man while drinking. FUn at the time but not worth it the next day when even my HAIR reeked like smoke.

That would be really good if it happened here in Edinburgh because theres just not enough places to sit outside in the summertime. I dont smoke though, so I suppose!

I heard that it stinks in clubs we're smoking is not allowed.....with the smoke gone, you tend to smell the sweat earlier.....

I was opposed to the recent smoking ban in Seattle on libertarian grounds, but that said, it has been SO NICE. Aside from having asthma, I just hate smelling like smoke. Big improvement for me. Seattle Org Invasion July 28th-30th http://www.prince.org/msg/2/177514

yeah, the political side of me is still VERY opposed 'specially since smoke-free bars were popping up in MPLS on their own, without the ban... but, the chainsmoking drunk idiot in me is happy for the ban when I'm out
