No matter what goes wrong in life, I always remember that - cheesy as it sounds - things usually do get better. There is always light at the end of the tunnel. nod

What seems terrible at one point in time can seem totally insignificant at another.

You just have to deal with things as best as you can and never be afraid to ask for help.

What do you do?

Panic? Have a pity party for yourself? Think about when times were better? Get the hell out of Dodge? Take inventory on your life?

The expression, "When the going gets tough, the tough get going".

What the hell does this mean? They bail on the situation or do they get going on fixing things? confuse

These are pretty personal views so I don't expect alot of replies but I just had to throw this question out there with the state of the world.

All of that. Panic, pity party, reflection, change. . . all of that. I have found that I have an inclination to run away. To want to just go, "fuck it all", and get on a bus or a plane, and start over. Thankfully, I'm too close to my family and friends to be able to actually do that. 'Cause I don't think it would really help.

The main thing, as onenitealone said, is just to remember that things always change. Always. When things are really bad, that thought is comforting.

Usually when I bottom out, I kinda settle in some melancholy coma, where I don't have any energy or focus to do what I need to, to get back on track.

I can't think straight when I'm frustrated like that, and usually have to chill out for a couple days till the fog clears.

Sometimes it's perfectly fine to walk away from things in your life. If you're wasting too much energy on something that's really not worth it...

Thanks for everyone's honest responses. Sometimes just reading things like these help people and that's why I started the thread.

I agree. I never usually participate in "serious" threads in this forum, but I'm going through a really tough time at the moment, and just reading everyone's advice really does help.

You should take comfort that when bottoming out the only place to go is up. There is hope. Hold on to it.

Just look around the world. You could be living in a cold dark cave in Iran, you could be homeless in New Orleans, you could be fighting cancer/aids, you could be a junkie living in a cardboard box in tent city or alone and homeless and sick from nothing to eat; you could be on the front lines in war watching your buddies get killed or maimed, you could be lying in a coma brain dead, you could be, you could be, you could be....

But you're not. You're a very likeable guy with education and... talent; toys to play that allow you to create. You have friends to talk to who listen and care. You have a roof over your head; you have two arms, two legs and a brain that works and can create beautiful thoughts. You have a job that provides daily bread. You have faith. You have, you have, you have.

If you think about ALL the things that you have been blessed with, you will know...you have everything to celebrate. Bottoming out is just natures way of bringing it all back to the reality of how blessed most of us are. Pain is natures way of putting it all into perspective. CHANGE THE CONSCIOUSNESS AND THE FALSE CONDITION WILL DISAPPEAR.

Red, I'm fuckin speechless.

That's the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me in my life. Words can't begin to say what I'm feeling with this post but I'll use these two.

Thank you.
