"Love life and life will love you back" & 12 other triviliazed sayings about life and our being here

1. Smile
(so you'll look like an idiot)

2. How are you doing?
(now do you REALLY want to know?)

3. Friends are the spice of life
(maybe just salt and ketchup)

4. Home, sweet home
(and the fucking neighbour's kids)

5. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day
(Maybe my refridgerator has magically filled up with food when I wake up)

6. You should consider yourself privileged to be allowed to study
(you can't be serious)

7. Only you can change your own life
(me, or my social worker)

8. Love is more important than money
(then why don't I get to have either one?)

9. Love life and life will love you back
(so she isn't much of a looker then?)

10. Just be yourself
(seriously, this has gotta be THE worst piece of dating advice ever)

11. All women want is someone sensitive, caring and fun to be with
(why sure, and they'll gladly have someone like that over someone who matches the description but also happens to eat antidepressants)

12.All good things come to those who wait
(good to know - I'll try to remember that in the future)

13. So life goes on
(for others)

This made me think a little bit of the ending of the movie "O Lucky Man!". Have you seen it by any chance? It's a little-known gem with Malcolm McDowell.

No I haven't, sorry. To be honest, there's plenty of space for smiling in the world but I just thought I'd start this thread on a good foot.

Yeah, I'm not criticizing what you said or anything. The reason I thought of the ending of that movie was that the main character is forced to smile by a photographer and honestly and repeatedly asks him why he should do that. It's a pretty powerful scene since he smiled easily on command at the beginning of the movie (he's a tea salesman) but after having gone through much hardship his reactions eventually became more genuine and the fake ones became more difficult for him to achieve. So it wasn't strictly related to what you said, it just made me think of that movie anyway. It's great actually. Funny, entertaining, disturbing, contemplative. And with great music. You should check it out.

Sounds like something I could rent to entertain my friends when they come over. You know, the salt and ketchup. smile
