It's probably a good thing that, for the reasons others have discussed, I'm going to wait before considering the purchase of a MacBook Pro. It's tempting, but it wouldn't be responsible of me, as my PowerBook G4 should still have at least a year of useful life.

I'm hoping that when it comes time to replace my current machine, the following will be true:

  • Apple will have fixed whatever problems -- if any -- exist with the first MacBook Pros
  • Microsoft will have released a Mac version of Office that runs natively on the Intel chip
  • Apple will have released a 12" version of the MacBook Pro

This is the conclusion I came to. I think I'm going to be able to get a new iBook G4 for relatively cheap (some discounts and kick-backs) and I do need to upgrade immediately! I need Office most of all - so the iBook will do me for a year or two until the MacBook has all those bugs ironed out.

In my experience, that's usually due to hardware that is not properly configured or a piece of crap power supply that can't handle the power requirements of the system. Windows is rebooting the system to prevent any or further damage. This feature can also be turned OFF.

My power cord on my SONY VIO PC is worn out and does not fit in the hole tightly....I really need to buy a new one...but my lazy ghetto ass keeps putiing it off...so it will go to battery power only and I won't notice then it dies. It was a shot at my wonderful XP running machine.
