A fag like Steve Jobs, that's who.

And by "fag", I mean "muthafuckin' genius who rules all galaxies", of course.

What, I should use that peice of shit OS 'cause it's called Windows? Like that's some genius name? I mean, it sorta makes sense. . . as in, "use our product and you'll be glad that your office has windows to gaze out of as you're waiting for your computer to reboot again." So, there is that.

Just watch. He'll get you in time. A year from now you'll be posting about your shiny new macbook. evillol

falloff Ahh hell nah there aint no way...he is gonna get me to go mac...Besides...I could toss his little ass across the room, there is no way he will try and step to me. Besides the only thing MAC means to me is the cosemtic brand...which is the only mac I will ever love.

Ok. We'll see. cool

Yeah, Viva Glam V rocks my world.

Because if you call Microsoft about, say, Word, you have a great experience? And at least with Apple, as a last resort, you can go to one of the stores and talk to a Mac Genius in person to get questions answered (though probably not billing questions). And what's wrong with email customer service? I love email customer service!

Anyway. None of this has anything to do with the fact that OSX is vastly superior to Windows. Nobody who has actually used both will argue with this. The PC guy I'm dating works for Microsoft, and HE won't even argue with this. He's about to buy a Mac Mini. lol

Matt, this girl needs schoolin'. Get to work.

I regret to inform you that I'm using it right now. lol I spend about 8 hours per day in front of a machine running XP. Ugh.

And yeah, XP doesn't crash as much, but the design and functionality of the OS is still way behind OSX.

Maybe that's because tons of more people have PCs than Macs. razz

I still would never buy a Mac unless I was heavily into video/image editing. I do it in my spare time, but not for a full time job. Other than that, I don't see any reason to switch.

Because the operating system is better. If that isn't enough reason for you, then yeah, you shouldn't buy a Mac. shrug

That's correct. Though, you can now dual-boot and use the Mac OS when you're not gaming. Best of both worlds. wink

Ditto. In the past I'd often bring my 12" PowerBook G4 to work, and I've connected it to our office network, but I rarely do that these days due to insurance reasons. (Basically, if I use the PowerBook for work purposes too much, my insurance company might classify it as business equipment and limit my coverage for it.) So I make do with Windows XP at work.

And yeah, XP doesn't crash as much, but the design and functionality of the OS is still way behind OSX.

I'll concede that XP is much more stable that previous versions of Windows (putting aside Windows 2000, which was not intended for consumer use). That's probably because it isn't based upon DOS. It's certainly better than that atrocious OS known as Windows Millennium Edition, the last of the DOS-based versions of Windows.

It's probably a good thing that, for the reasons others have discussed, I'm going to wait before considering the purchase of a MacBook Pro. It's tempting, but it wouldn't be responsible of me, as my PowerBook G4 should still have at least a year of useful life.

I'm hoping that when it comes time to replace my current machine, the following will be true:

  • Apple will have fixed whatever problems -- if any -- exist with the first MacBook Pros
  • Microsoft will have released a Mac version of Office that runs natively on the Intel chip
  • Apple will have released a 12" version of the MacBook Pro

The "MagSafe Connector" power cord is pure genius. I've tripped over the power cord once, sending my PowerBook crashing down to a hardwood floor. redface Amazingly the machine itself was essentially unharmed, but the power cord connector was bent and no longer usable. The replacement power cord wasn't cheap, although, to be sure, a new PowerBook would have cost me a lot more. neutral

Anyway, as for Windows versus Mac OS X, I used DOS/Windows for literally 20 years: 1984 to 2004. (The first computer I used was an IBM Personal Computer XT, back when I was a little kid.) I have no regrets about switching. While it took awhile to adjust to OS X, the same was true when I started using Windows 95 instead of 3.1.

What's this? Googling "MagSafe Connector". . .

eek

That is genius! biggrin woot!

Wouldn't helped me when I had to replace my power cord. Dog's rope toy was laying accross it, and the dog didn't distinguish between the toy and the cord. He was fine. The cord was not. I can't believe how much those damn things cost.

I am sure it improved its horrible performance to.....still a horrible computer after it hit the hardwood floor.
