I've run into a few members of the old NPG: Sonny, Mayte, Tommy. I've met a few Star Trek actors as well. The best of those were meeting George Takei, and then Bill Shatner a few years later.

Troy Hudson.

I got to interview/talk with a pretty famous (and Turner Prize nominated) contemporary artist, Yinka Shonibare. He was so charming; it was a really awesome experience. I've also met artists Christo & Jeanne-Claude, William Kentridge, and Sol LeWitt; and art critic/philosopher Arthur Danto. I met Eldridge Cleaver and had him autograph my copy of Soul on Ice; and got George Clinton to autograph my Uncut Funk cd...he was out of his mind...

I wouldn't say I "know" her, but I did take two graduate seminars with Rosalind Krauss, who is basically one of the most influential and famous post-modernist art historians. (She was Clement Greenberg's protege, and Greenberg was HUGELY influential during the New York school/AbEx movement. And she invited us to her SoHo loft for lunch. I sat in the exact same seat, right next to her for two semesters but I guarantee that if I met her on the street she'd look right through me as though I were invisible. (She makes the Grinch look like Mother Theresa, but she's fucking smart as hell.)

The title of this thread is a bit missleading. It says "ever known," but then we're asked who we've bumped into and where. Oh, the "Star Fucker" thread... one of my all-time favorites!

I've already told the story of being at Battery Park in New York City and having Sheila E. pull-up in her limo, back in '86. (That's the only run-in I've had with someone from the Prince camp.)

Robert Goulet made a drunken fool of himself at the Triangle, a long-lasting & popular leather bar in Denver back in 1994. I gad the guilty pleasure of watching him perform oral sex IN THE BAR! (This was back in the day when they actually had a basement and backroom for such things. No "Camelot" reference jokes, please!)

Tommy Tune came to my healing arts center for a massage back in '97. (I was a licensed massage therapist and Mr. Tune wanted more than the massage... He actually wanted me to travel with him!)

Goldie Hawn was coming out of a neighboring tanning booth at the Tan Time in Denver, back in '95. She was very nice and had little make-up on (of course). I asked what she was doing in Denver and she said she and Kurt had a place in Aspen and she was in town to take her kids shoe-shopping. I asked her what her latest project was she was working on -- and her reply was that she was trying to secure the rights to "Mame" and was hoping to have Whoopie Goldberg star in it! (Well, that was ten years ago, and it seems like that idea never panned out!)

Ann Miller was strolling down Denver's north Cherry Creek shopping district in her trademark long fur coat. She was "window shopping" and, as she walked by the restaurant where I was eating, popped her head into to see the place was actually a restaurant instead of an art gallery. That was in '96.

When I first moved to New Mexico in 2003, I actually ran into designer Tom Ford twice at the same restaurant in Santa Fe on two different occasions. He's a very nice (and HOT!) man. His gaydar was definitely working when I saw him!

Those are the only encounters I've had with celebs where I've actually run into them. Not bad, considering it wasn't in L.A.....
