Seriously, how do you sleep? Very well, thanks. Nah, if I think I'm doing poorly, I just call and check. I'll occasionally write things down if I'm trying to budget for a large purchase or save for something, but that's about it. I used to be quite anal about it all, checking my balance nightly to make sure I'd written everything down correctly and such, but along the way I decided I didn't want to be quite so strict about things and relaxed a bit. Now I've gone a bit too far, though, so I've got to reign myself back in. |

I know I'm outdated & believe me the amount of paper in my house makes me fucking NUTS!!! I still pay most of my bills with paper checks Matt, you'll be glad to know I ALWAYS use my debit card in stores I still write a lot of checks, even at the market. And my checkbook is always balanced.

Tracking your expenses is one of the best ways to save. It's very empowering, because then you can put your money to the things you truly value.
