so a couple weeks ago i got my nose pierced ...and it's been healing okay so far. A bit slow, but that's normal for me.
But this weekend I was out at a party and ended up getting hit in the face at some point, and the piercing tore a bit. Now I've got this ugly-ass scab on the side of nose above where the ring is. Obviously I'm kinda bummed about that, and even though it's little I'm kinda self-soncious of it. Any suggestions on what I can do to make it heal faster/make it less obvious? I've been using antibacterial soap and warm water to keep it clean. I had beenusing this really spiffy organic piercing aftercare solution to keep it clean but developed an allergy to something in it so had to stop. I'll post pics once it starts to look nicer. Ask your piercer. They'll know any tips to help. Can't wait to see the pics. Are you still rocking the 'hawk? I'm gonna post pics of mine soon!

that's EXACTLY my advice. It doesn't sound like you did anything to damage the piercing too hroribly, but your piercer will be able to tell you all that. now, heal up and post a pic!

salty water.
take a cup, teaspoon of seasalt, boiling water, and because it's your nose, use a drenced piece of clean cloth. this will disinfect and crystals close up the wound. no creams, they will shut off oxygen. also, zinc tablets will help you with healing wounds. yes SIR!

Thanks for the tips, everyone.
The mohawk is gone, unfortunately. I lost all patience with it one day and sheared it off, so now I've got an unkempt Sinead look. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

You should try that meow.

i'll go with the "ask your piercer" suggestion, too. they'll be of great help to you if you're having problems with your piercing--the guy who did my septum piercing, as well as the other piercers at the place i went to when he wasn't available, have been of great help.

hydrogen peroxide on a new piercing is a BIG no-no. saline solution will most likely be the best bet, because it'll clean it without irritating it like the hydrogen peroxide will.

Glad you stated that. My folks own a tattoo/piercing shop and I hear her saying to never use hyrogen peroxide because it causes drying and some other stuff which I can't remember.

You should try that meow. Exactly. But don't use boiling water, though, too hot. Mix 1/4 tsp of seasalt with warm water in a cup and dip your nose in it for a good 5-10 minutes. Delicately clean any crusties off w/a Qtip, but other than that you shouldn't touch it. It will be well again in no time. |
