I'm soooo damn excited, I can't wait for it to get here (6-8 weeks). The reason why it's going to take so long is because I special ordered a few items. I went to La-Z-Boy Furniture and found a really pretty deep rose couch in microfiber (my favorite material, so cushiony and soft!). Then I had to pick out which rocking/reclining chair I wanted (they had several that were specially priced if you bought two of them).

I then picked out a pretty floral print (which had the same color rose in it as the couch) to have put onto the chairs, since the chairs only came in solid colors or leather. I'm also having pillows made with the fabric on them that is the same as what's being put on the chairs, so that it all ties in together. So many decisions to make, between which couch and chairs I wanted, and on the pillows too: which size pillow should I get; did I want a beveled edge, a braided edge, or a fringe? Did I want long fringe or short fringe? Decisions, decisions, but I managed to pull it all together (after spending like 3 hours in the store).

Now when they call me to deliver the new stuff, I'm going to have to call another organization that the saleslady gave me to have my old furniture picked up. I told the saleslady that my furniture was in bad shape, and that one of my rockers was actually broken. She told me that the poor people who get the furniture don't always care what shape the stuff is in, if they need furniture, they will take whatever they can find. Pretty sad to think that there are some folks out there who can't even afford to buy furniture when they need it. Think I'll see if my dad can fix the rocker before they pick it up, since I would feel funny about donating it in the shape it's in now.

Did I mention that I'm totally excited about the new furniture and can't wait to get it in here to see how pretty it looks? I feel like a kid at Christmas; and I hope that the 6-8 weeks goes by quickly. I spent more money than I thought I would, but it's worth it, because this is furniture that is going to last me for a long time (La-Z-Boy has a lifetime guarantee on their springs and construction of their furniture).

and yes there is always someone who can use furniture that someone else has no use for
and think - it may be ripped but they will throw a blanket over it and make it theirs.
here there is a larget thrift store (i found some fabulous jeans there )
that honors vouchers that are given to new immigrants or people on assistance
it's all part of a hand up
