Barry Bonds Impersonates Paula Abdul 1 hour, 51 minutes ago
Paula Abdul probably could hit a fastball about as well as Barry Bonds could impersonate Paula Abdul. Bonds entertained and delighted a small gathering of fans and teammates Tuesday by dressing up as Abdul to judge the San Francisco Giants spin-off of the hit Fox show "American Idol," called Giants Idol. Bonds, who wore a strapless dress and a blonde wig, surprised everyone watching the mock contest, where young players had to sing in front of the judges. "I'll never tell my wife to hurry up any more," Bonds said. "Because it took me forever to get ready. I'll never do that again. I couldn't get my hair right. There were a lot things I went through during the 30 minutes I was getting ready." The event raised $337 from fans that will be matched by the Giants organization and donated to the Giants Community Fund. Giants Idol was the brainchild of Mark Sweeney, who decided to bring a little levity to the clubhouse. Sweeney, who signed as a free-agent with the team during the winter, decided the "Idol" competition would promote team chemistry and raise some money. "It was up in the air whether Barry would do this," Sweeney said. "We asked him this morning. It was almost embarrassing to have him do it." Sweeney's idea was to bring together the team and help spark team unity after last year's disappointing season when the Giants finished under .500 for the first time since 1996. "It was pretty cool," said Omar Vizquel, who acted as host Ryan Seacrest. "I just thought he was going to be a judge. As long as you have fun you connect with each other. Rounding out the judging impersonators were second baseman Ray Durham as Randy Jackson and Jeff Fassero as Simon Cowell. Comedian Rob Schneider, who was visiting the Giants, also participated in the mock contest. The second round of the contest will take place on Wednesday before the team plays an intrasquad game. Bonds is unsure whether he will again dress up as Abdul. Copyright © 2006 The Associated Press. Space for sale...

Paula isn't on nearly as many pills as she was in previous seasons.
Or if she is, they are the right ones.

Paula A-Fool I call her. She's way too sugary sweet for me at times, praising some of the contestants on American Idol, telling them that they're wonderful, when they're not. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

He couldn't hold Babe Ruth's jock. well damn....somebody doesn't like Barry. what is he, like 9 away from it. I'd kill to be at a Braves game if he breaks the record. According to the Braves schedule they play the Giants at home in late August, and I'm sure he'll already have the record looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

I won't go on my soapbox about him though, let's just say he's not half the player Babe or Lou Gehrig was. And if people think he hit all those homeruns NOT on roids, you're ignorant.

Okay, I just can't resist.....
Ruth hit 714 career home runs in the regular season, with 8,399 career at-bats. Placed in that context, it beats Hank Aaron, who hit 755 career HRs in 12,364 at-bats, and Barry Bonds, who currently has 708 HRs in 9,137 at-bats. Bonds, a smooth and swift athlete for most of his career, and Ruth, generally remembered as a lumbering oaf, is that Ruth hit vastly more triples. Bonds has 77 triples in his career; Ruth legged out 136—more than only a handful of players since his retirement. Ruth hit home runs more often (1 per 14.9 plate appearances to Bonds's 16.5) Bonds has a higher frequency of doubles, but just barely (every 20.6 times up to Ruth's 21.0) Ruth singled 20 percent more often than Bonds, which is quite a bit. Bonds plays in a home run era, thanks to cozier ballparks, smaller strike zones and additional fertilizer(STEROIDS). In Ruth's era, the fences, often quite tall, stood much farther from home plate, often an extra 20 to 60 feet or more from the power alleys to center field. Interestingly, baseball historian John Thorn says that most of Ruth's triples probably would have been HRs in today's smaller ballparks. Ruth may have ended up with a tally closer to 800. Ruth's career O.P.S. (on-base percentage plus slugging percentage) was 1.164, or 53 percent higher than his contemporaries. Bonds entered this week at 1.053, 41 percent above his league. Take away the at-bats in which each player tripled, and Bonds winds up just .087 behind Ruth in O.P.S. Ruth's 53-41 edge in percentage over his competition would be cut to 48-37. Let's not even talk about Barry's HORRIBLE fielding..... Bonds was once quoted (during the 2003 All-Star break) as saying: ''In the baseball world, Babe Ruth's everything, right? I got his slugging percentage and I'll take his home runs and that's it. Don't talk about him no more.'' Barry will never live in immortatlity as Babe Ruth does. He will always be viewed as a cheater, even if he is never actually CAUGHT. Go away Barry, we're tired of your act. You can have your thread back now!!
