HEY YOOOOUUU GUUUUUUYYYYYS! - The Electric Company DVD Box Set

You younger people probably will have no idea what I'm talking about here, but...

I want this box set so badly! drooling

This program was wonderful. I watched it every day when I was a kid, and loved it more than Sesame Street. It was a great show because it taught the essentials and basics of grammar, spelling, and phonics in a fun way -- with lots of music, skits, and many talented people (like Morgan Freeman, Mel Brooks, Bill Cosby, Rita Moreno Joan Rivers, Irene Cara and Gene Wilder). I truly credit The Electric Company with having helped me, as a child, acquire the basic fundamentals of grammar and English, and instilling in me a love & appreciation of reading and language which has stayed with me my entire life.

Some of my favorite memories of EC are:

J. Arthur Crank
Easy Reader
Fargo North, Decoder
Molly Lick a Lolly
Love of Chair
The Blue Beetle
the silhouette thing where words would be sounded out to music, syllable by syllable
The Silent E song (one of my absolute favorites) and the -LY song
Letterman
Spiderman

Anybody else remember and love The Electric Company? biggrin

My thread is bombing impressively. lol

Hmm. I will comfort myself with the notion that nobody can read it very well, as they did not watch The Electric Company regularly when they were a child. biggrin

it started in '72, and i'm pretty sure it ran through the early '80s and played in reruns for a few years after that. i remember growing up on that show when i was a little one, around '74 - '77.
