here is Slussen in Stockholm - when it was built it was a work of genius, but then Sweden swapped to driving on the right hand side of the road and all of a sudden it became a f*@#en NIGHTMARE! is that why you moved to Australia? I mean, driving on the left hand side..... maybe my parents did? Although they drove on the right for 10 years or so before chucking it in.

Personally, I love these things.
Sure, they are hell to navigate, but they're so... so... European! I just hope they put cool things in the center of them like in Europe -- statues, fountains and what not. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

the key is to take it and own it!
Get in there, take a lane, own that lane!

What's the big deal? I don't even drive -or even have a license, for that matter - and I know how to navigate a roundabout properly if I had to get behind the wheel.
Maybe people who can't master something so basic shouldn't be allowed to have licenses. [Edited 3/2/06 1:54am] "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

I just remembered... saw a few of these in the newer part of Omaha.
(they're everywhere they're everywhere!!! Living as i do in France, I guess i'm so used to them that their presence went over my head when confronted elsewhere. [Edited 3/2/06 1:52am]

They're often used here to get people to slow down before a roundabout... otherwise, you find cars crashed straight into the middle of them.

I remember moving to a small Nebraska town from the Denver area as a 9-year-old... and the coming of the new viaduct was the big event in town. Oh yeah, and to accompany that, a second stoplight. (In fact, I didn't even know the word "viaduct." When they explained what it was, I was like "oh - an OVERPASS!"
