Fauxie

For sellers: Balance total item cost carefully between price and shipping. Leaning towards higher shipping prices and lower item costs means the item attracts more attention and costs you less in listing and final value fees.

It's often easy to underestimate shipping costs anyway because you forget gas to the post office, post packs etc. so it's better to add a couple of dollars to shipping and take a couple off the item price. Ultimately, the buyer is getting the item for the same total cost, and sometimes this reduction in fees will also allow the seller to offer the item cheaper. Of course, you have to keep things reasonable as far as shipping costs. Ebay have a policy that guards against ridiculous shipping costs used to avoid paying fees (eg. 1 cent laptop, $1000 shipping).

Yeah thats a good tip.
I always do that. Those last seconds drive me crazy!I always check the counter to see if someone else is lurking.
I hate to lose auctions,so sometimes I use Buy it Now boxed

I bid that way, too. Sniping. smile

Buy It Now auctions can sometimes be REALLY good if the person seeling doesn't realize just how much their merchandise is worth. I got a 2.4GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor for only $45 on a Buy It Now auction. The auctions for the same item that ran to their conclusions without Buy It Now went for around $90. thumbs up!

what if 20 people bid at once at the last minute? biggrin

I read that there are programs that you can set up to bid for you at the very last moment. I'm pretty sure that'd be against Ebay policy though.

Also, check out www.toolhaus.org. Type in the seller ID and you can get just their negative and neutral feedbacks. They have other useful tools there too.

For sellers, don't use Ebay's listing templates if possible. Using your own html is cheaper and can look better.

I usually wait until there's only seconds left.
