Madea movie fake and good = average at best

Come on now, all the black people look like goddess like the cosby show, And no way the ending is how we black people acts. The acting was excellent but the storyline was Fake like Alexander O neil says. I won't spoil the movie so thats why I am not saying anything, but one part I will say what a lady said in the movie i always hear and i am sureyou will too, I hate working with my kind cause you always late and ignorant. lol Funny part and the line of the movie. Overall its a 6 out of 10. Its no Lord of the rings return of the king!!!! nod Movie was very predictable and i thought it was not going to end!!!!

Umm, don't most of the people in movies look good? hmm WTF kind of criticism is that?? confused

I didn't see Tyler Perry's last film (never seen one of the plays) but I may see this one. I saw a clip on Tyra's show & it was pretty funny, much better than the ads they're showing. Maybe that's why I thought the last one would be so terrible - the way they advertise Black films is usually pretty questionable...

I have seen the play already, and Madea is an accquired taste. The films aren't all laughs, there is actually a good moral story that goes along with it. The singing in "Diary" was amazing, as was the singing in the play of "Family Reunion". I plan on seeing this film 2morrow with some friends. When I saw "Diary" at the theatre, I went out the next day and purchased all the plays. I hope everyone goes into this with an open mind and leaves as happy as they wanna b.

This is a very well made movie!

It was quite funny, but more on the serious side. And that's what I loved about Tyler's Plays are that they had serious subjects dealing with family and relationships.

The movie was not quite as hilarious and outrageous as Diary, but it still has the same wit as the previous film.

The acting was very well done and the actors were picked very good too.
My favorite scene is with Lynn Witfield (as the mother) locked in the room with her 2 daughters and they have a heartfelt argument that made me want to cry.

The ending was indeed a bit tired (but not as long as Lord Of The Rings III bored boo ) but ti is a great family film that I would watch again just like Diary Of A Mad Black Woman.

Now I WONDER what the haters are going to have to say about this film because there wasnt NUFFIN wrong with it. The last good black movie I have seen since...hmm....what came out?....I can't remember...

(and since when where you reviews published in a paper?)

But anyway it was a good film. It has recieved some high praises from moviegoers on movies.com, his own site and from other critical reviews.

DID YOU SEE that review on movies.com from a critic? The man just hates Tyler Perry and that was all he talked about before givin it a C- ...

Isn't hitting people hilarious? I mean, especially if they're children. Then it's really funny. Because everyone knows that when a disturbed foster child comes into your home and acts horribly, all that kid really needs is a good whipping with a belt. Not like the abuse they received from the other adults in their lives. No, this kind of beating is the kind you do lovingly. Because God told you to do it.

Jesus-saturated messages of faith. In other words, it's as dumb as Perry wants it to be. He knows what his audience wants, and he's laughing all the way to the bank.

Not Just for Black People! All races can enjoy the terribleness, if they like. And just as happened with his money-grabbing last movie, they probably will.

The "terribleness" ?? Since when was that a word? And why would they let a person who DONT LIKE his films review on the front of the page?

Just finished reading some reviews online about Madea's family reunion and most of them are terrible at best.

I just came home from seeing this movie at a local theatre in Toronto and I have to say it was a extremely touching, fun and all around decent film. Seeing that it was number 1 across the U.S & Canada alot of people must be in agreement with me.

I know I am bias because I am part of an African American family by marriage and I understand the socio-economic topics touched on. However I really do think this film has a universal message of love. With most movies not catering to black audiences, it is a breath of fresh air to have tyler's plays brought to the big screen.

Being in Canada I realize that our population much like our American counterparts does not comprehend the buying power of the black masses. When Diary of mad black woman was released intially in the U.S.. it took 3 weeks for the film to debut here despite the fact that all other movies get released here same day as the U.S market. Toronto also has a large african canadian population. even thou' most are west indian they relate heavy w/ there african american peers. But again, it is a population not catered too.. which speaks volumes of the society we live in.

Below is an article from the Toronto Star.. which proves my point.

Movie Review: Madea's gag-filled mission
Feb. 24, 2006. 08:47 AM
GEOFF PEVERE
MOVIE CRITIC

-----
Madea's Family Reunion

Starring Tyler Perry, Boris Kodjoe, Rochell Aytes, Lisa Arrindell Anderson, Blair Underwood, Cicely Tyson, Maya Angelou. Written and directed by Tyler Perry. 107 minutes. At major theatres. 14A

-----

Even if you weren't aware that Tyler Perry's Madea's Family Reunion was adapted from a successful American stage play, the sheer eccentricity of the premise — that an Atlanta family reunion presided over by a 68-year-old African-American matriarch (played by a 36-year-old man) would provide the context for an exercise in Christian inspirational healing — would probably key you to the fact this is an entertainment engineered for a pretty specific audience.

Moreover, you would probably also suss pretty quickly, as this middle-aged Canadian white guy did, if you're not part of that audience.

The Lousiana-born Perry, the director, producer, writer and star of a number of plays, DVDs and now movies (2005's Diary of a Mad Black Woman was a Perry-produced hit), is clearly a man on a mission. He uses his various user-friendly, sitcom-flavoured comic personae (apart from the stern-but-loving Madea, he also plays the raunchy, flatulent Uncle Joe) to create family-friendly spectacles that not only address issues facing the American black community, but that act as a form of pop culture evangelism.

Through lessons of reconciliation and recovered pride, they offer hope to a culture Perry believes has lost its values, traditions and spiritual core. This hope takes the form of community rituals involving family, marriage, Christianity and, by implication, going to movies.

Madea's Family Reunion is not only about an event that opens its arms to everybody who has lost their way, it's also designed to be that kind of an event.

The story focuses on two Atlanta sisters — Rochelle Aytee's emotionally wounded single mom Lisa, and Lisa Arrindell Anderson's abused wife Vanessa. Their loveless lives have led them astray from the traditional bosom of black matriarchy (which is represented in the movie not only by the presence of Madea, but also by the characters played by Maya Angelou and Cicely Tyson).

Perry's movie views contemporary urban black experience — with its materialistic bling-bling, booty-grinding teenage girls, alpha-male buppies and splintered families — as a sign of a fallen people, a message he sends home by having Tyson make an impassioned speech on the subject while standing on the porch of a log cabin.

No question about it, this is conservative, simplistic, culture-war proselytizing dressed in prime-time sitcom drag and, as off-putting as I might find a movie that condemns spousal abuse while making humorous spectacles of belt-whipping kids and skillet-bashing bad husbands, or that weirdly casts a man in drag as a symbol of redemptive matriarchal power, I also must admit something else about Madea's Family Reunion.

I'm just not on the guest list.

Now if he feels so excluded.. how do black folks feel on daily basis when 9 outta 10 movies.. do not reflect them in our society.

With that said that reviewer excluded himslef basically from the message. Why should a black movie have to culturally be for 'white people' too?

Your last comment hit me. It is very true. he seemed like he likes the movie but feels left out. Oh well. I don't see alot of caucasian movies trying to open our culture..we just have to accept it because we arent the highest minority in the U.S.

It's AMAZING to me how people can feel that way - "left out" of Black culture. Give me a fucking break. Am I really supposed to get all weepy about his "left out" feelings for a mere 2 hours of a movie??? Does this dude have any idea in how many ways & degrees Blacks & minorities in general feel "left out" of the mass culture in the US?

Im sayin, are there alot of hispanic / asian / or any other culture leaving the door open for black people in their movies? So why should we cater?
David Chapelle is a good show, its a black show..which in the same time leaves it's door open for caucasian people to view too..that is another reason he is successful, because he reach masses. But U don't really see that alot in movies where caucasians are the main role.

That was all...the reviewer felt "left out".....so what? If he couldnt get the message of love then too bad.

I REFUSE to see these movies. Ya'll know Tyler Perry is gay, right? All Madea is is a DRAG QUEEN. And the church folk EAT that shit UP. what im saying is, and i can only speak for diary of a mad black woman, there are so many lessons in the movie... it covers a woman's aspect of a broken heart pretty well, and shows the healing that comes afterward.... goes into the ability to trust after being hurt, this type of thing.

its a story of growing and learning, on many different characters.... madea is just icing on the cake of the story, she really has little to do with the plot of it all shrug

i suggest trying it some night... rent the movie, sit and watch it, you may be very surprised... and who knows, you may be a madea fan too giggle

I completely understand your point of view. I sat down with my mom and watched "Diary" and I told her the same thing and she told me to get out her house. So i'm just gonna stick the Madea movies up there with "RENT" and all the other movies that people hype about and I refuse to see hmph! Thanx anyway.

I completely understand your point of view. I sat down with my mom and watched "Diary" and I told her the same thing and she told me to get out her house. So i'm just gonna stick the Madea movies up there with "RENT" and all the other movies that people hype about and I refuse to see hmph! Thanx anyway.

so, you did see it then ?

Some of it before she told me to get out.
