HELP!! does anyone know anything about bluetooth tech?

i have a motorola v710 mobile phone, which is bluetooth capable. i bought a bluetooth dongle, so i can transfer files from my phone to my computer and vice versa. i've installed the software for the dongle, but i was told i'll have to download the software for my phone too. well, i've been looking for it online and i can't find it on motorola.com or by googling, unless i just don't know what to look for. i want to be able to put songs and pictures on my phone (it has an mp3 player too) and be able to transfer pics and videos i take with my phone to my computer. does anyone have any idea what i need to do?

If your phone is bluetooth capable, you shouldn't have to download any additional software to install on the phone itself. If for some reason they do require you to install more stuff on the phone, try bringing it to your provider/dealer, and have them do it for you.

Have you tried connecting to your computer via bluetooth yet? Generally there should be an option labeled "bluetooth" somewhere within your phone's menu.

Here is the manual for your phone, it's in adobe acrobat format so it may take a moment to load....

http://www.motorola.com/m...82A47A.pdf

If you click on the binoculars icon, you can do a search through the whole manual for the word "bluetooth" to see all the pages with instructions for it.

i have connected to my computer, but so far all i've been able to do is access it as a handsfree headset, talking on my phone through my computers speakers and microphone.

i have the manual, but there is NOTHING in there about the stuff i want to do.

i'm going to call motorola tech support and hope they can help me.

Not only that, but if you are using an American carrier, many of them intentionally disable a huge chunk of bluetooth abilities, including, in some cases, the ability to transfer address book info and (most often) data files. One of the many reasons I currently despise all the American cell phone carriers...

No, bluetooth can be used for wireless mice, keyboards, and other input devices. I've seen printers which support bluetooth. Some people also use it as a quick network solution between a couple computer systems.

As far as bluetooth phones go, one has to be carefull in researching both phone and carrier if you're looking for anything beyond hands-free headset.

I know some, depends on the specifics. What OS are you using? Bluetooth works most flawlessly on Mac OS X 10.3 and higher. If you have Verizon, (last I checked) they disable the ability to transfer files to and from your phone. I'll answer what I can, but every phone/provider/OS combination is different, and I no longer have a BT phone to play with...

Oh, and one more thing, as a life long computer user, having used a very large variety of different computers and operating systems, working with many people of many differing levels of computer ability, I can confidnetly recommend that the best computer for the majority of home users is either a Mac Mini or an iMac (depending on budget, new or used), and I'll be happy to answer any of those questions as well...

I'm looking into a G5 20" iMac, they're going cheap because of the new Intel iMacs, and I'll be using Adobe CS2, so G5 is faster for now until CS is made Intel native - that's what I've been told. I am using a 400mHz G4 on OS9.2 at the moment.

I do graphic design on it, from my home based business.
