lol They did. The girl standing next to me for example... was my wife at the time. We had this elaborate role-play going on, with alter-egoes. I was called 'Steven'.

And the boys had a crush on me too, because I was always one of them, as wild as them, climbing in trees etc... This has gone on for a pretty long time. It was only when I was 15 I started to look like a real girl.

I guess she was really lucky to find a girl who looked like a boy because I'm sure the boys would never want to play that type of games! I remember when I was a kid my sister always wanted us to play that we were king and queen or that we would live in a house together and stuff like that. I remember agreeing to go along with that a couple of times but when I did, it was always because she'd agreed to get on my imagined space ship or underwater station in return. lol

It must be a pain to be so attractive to the whole world's population. rolleyes razz

Was it because you took over from your parents as the one in charge of the way you dressed or was it your physical change that brought it on, or was it maybe just a typical teenage thing to experiment with new looks?

That's gonna be me in about 2 years with the way my shit grows. I was just at my mom's beauty supply store and she was giving me shit about it and I said "WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO? I GOT IT FROM YOU!?!!?" then she gave me "teh look" and I calmed the fuck down and remembered my place. So I came the hell home. I should make a thread about how well we don't get along.

In the beginning of the nineties, I was a 'grunge'girl, completely in love with Kurt Cobain, wearing long back clothes and heavy boots. Next to that, I wore glasses and my hair was never short, but not exactly long either. I guess it was more important to me then to look 'cool', or to define what music I liked etc. by wearing specific clothes.

When I was about 15 years old, I decided there was other music I liked, and that I should stop defining myself, or trying to, by wearing black clothes and hiding my breasts all the time. My hair became longer, I started to wear contact-lenses and went through my most girly period ever. The pics of this period make me feel annoyed or even ashamed just as well, but in another way.

For 6 years now I'm in a neutral fase, and I don't think that will change soon. My boyfriend complains sometimes about me dressing so casual; wearing a skirt during winter freaks me out, but I won't hide what I like about myself.

To go back to childhood: I looked the way I did because I really didn't care. I didn't like barbies, I enjoyed climbing in trees and I'd rather be a Prince wink than a princess.

It's true what you said, this role-plays are more popular among girls. We start practising at an early age. lol

You were ten years old when Nevermind came out! I bet people thought it was totally cute to see that little grunge girl with her big attitude and cool clothes....which probably made you even more rebellious. lol

I can understand that. Rebellious phases always feel a bit embarrassing afterwards and even though this one was a "rebellion against a rebellion", it wasn't any less a rebellion.

It's obvious that you've matured and found yourself. I'm sure you could put on grunge clothes now if you felt like it without being defined by them. Getting older isn't always a bad thing. thumbs up!

Oh, there's plenty of use actually! My vivid imagination has always served me well as a storyteller, as a writer, as a filmmaker and as a human being. I wouldn't have traded those days and months and years of creating new worlds for anything.
