Captain's Quiz--Do Flowers Feel?

I just need to know because sometimes when I pick these beautiful things out of the ground I think I hear a little scream. Do you think flowers have feelings?

Peace and love, precious Orgers.

I think the Valentines flowers I bought my girl are feeling very sick because they don't look so healthy.

I hope so. Then the smug ass vegans down the block can stop givin me the evil eye at the market. Just as guilty as me. It stands to reason. These things live. They grow, they breathe, they move toward light, they reproduce. Why can't they feel? And it's not necessarily something to apologize for. It's the only way to sustain life, that's how it all was designed. We should eat everything else cause everything else, given the chance, would eat us.

Sorry, that's my pro-omnivore rant of the year.

I no longer call them hos...I call them sexual gratification engineers.

What about trees? When we chop them down to build mini-malls, do you think the trees cry?

Flowers have an immediate impact on happiness. All study participants expressed "true" or "excited" smiles upon receiving flowers, demonstrating extraordinary delight and gratitude. This reaction was universal, occurring in all age groups.

Flowers have a long-term positive effect on moods. Specifically, study participants reported feeling less depressed, anxious and agitated after receiving flowers, and demonstrated a higher sense of enjoyment and life satisfaction.

Flowers make intimate connections. The presence of flowers led to increased contact with family and friends.

Sharing Space

The study also explored where in their homes people display flowers. The arrangements were placed in areas of the home that are open to visitors - such as foyers, living rooms and dining rooms - suggesting that flowers are a symbol for sharing.

"Flowers bring about positive emotional feelings in those who enter a room," said Dr. Haviland-Jones. "They make the space more welcoming and create a sharing atmosphere."

Tis my faith that every flower enjoys the air it breathes!

~William Wordsworth

Got some Wordsworth for your behinds! Willy summed it up just perfectly.

The Captain loves flowers and he loves each and every one of you.

And, please, stop orgnoting me (you know who you are) and asking what substance I'm on. The reason why my voice is so clear is because there's no hos (i.e. sexual gratification engineers) on my brain.
