McDonald's Sued Over Ingredients of Fries

http://news.yahoo.com/s/a...ies_suit_4

Sat Feb 18, 11:36 PM ET

CHICAGO - McDonald's Corp. faces at least three lawsuits claiming the fast-food giant misled the public after it acknowledged earlier this week its french fries contain milk and wheat ingredients.

Debra Moffatt of Lombard, Ill., seeks unspecified damages in a suit filed Friday in Chicago. Her attorney, Thomas Pakenas, said his client has celiac disease, which causes gastrointestinal symptoms set off by eating gluten, a protein found in wheat.

Jack Daly, McDonald's senior vice president, said in a statement the company had not reviewed the case yet and is testing its fries for gluten through a food allergy research program at the University of Nebraska.

Mark and Theresa Chimiak of Jupiter, Fla., sued Friday in Florida, claiming their 5-year-old daughter has an intolerance to gluten and became seriously ill after eating the fries. Nadia Sugich of Los Angeles sued Wednesday, saying she eats no animal products and would not have eaten the fries had she known they contained dairy ingredients.

McDonald's, based in Oak Brook, Ill., said Monday that wheat and dairy products are used to flavor its fries.

Before its acknowledgment Monday, the company had quietly added "Contains wheat and milk ingredients" to the french fries listing on its Web site.

What trips me out is that McDonalds doesnt even know whats in its own food products. They said that they have to do research to find out whats in their own fries. Damn shame. You all had better stay away from this stuff!

There was a time when people were telling me that I was becoming more & more offensive.
Eventually, I surmized that it must be a result of an accumulation of french in my system due to years of consuming McD's fries.
So I tried to sue 'em.
However,
each witness who testified said that when they said offensive, they meant my B.O..
I tried to explain to the judge that my case still could apply,
but he responded by telling me to bathe more often & then he threw the case & me out of court.

These fucking big corps piss me off, we are "doing research" like it takes ages! I could tell you the exact Gluten concentration in an average Mc Donalds fry inside a day. And they have acess to the raw materials! I say materials because most of them go beyond what one would describe as ingredients.

I don't get why these people keep nitpicking about McDonalds. You know the stuff is junk food and bad for you with all kinds of additives, it's common sense. If this woman's child has such a medical condition, shouldn't she be more careful about what she's feeding her? Why is she taking her to MdDonalds in the first place??

These people go into MdDonalds knowing the stuff is bad for them, pig out on it, then try and sue them afterwards for the side effects.

You would think, huh? Just let worthless celiacs drink water.

But my little sister is celiac and the only way you can "be careful" is to go by the advice on the packaging. If McDonalds do not disclose what their food contains (whether junk food or not) they should still be held accountable. ALL food manufacturers have a duty to disclose what is in the food by law.

I agree that McD does get a bad press, but why the hell not, they are a world leader in food production they should be setting the standards not trying to buck them.

This is not lets sue because its fattening or because a hot drink burned my mouth rolleyes This is negligence on the part of McDonalds and they should be held accountable.

Even more so because you expect a bread roll to contain gluten but you do not expect a fucking potato fry to contain it! It is verging on intentionally misleading.

I have a feeling practically all fast food places use some kind of starch or flour additive on their fries to make them more crispy. Even frozen fries you get at the grocery store often do this. Not to mention, some restaurants use the same fryer to cook breaded things like chicken nuggets, and onion rings, that they use to cook fries.

McDonalds a fast food joint. The food is over-processed, manipulated, and loaded with additives. Even if she didn't have the specific ingredients right in front of her, isn't it common sense? It just feels kind of irresponsible to me to feed her kid something like that and assume it's OK.

They should put labels on their fries that say "scum."

This way they're covered.

The public has known for many years that the food at McDonalds is unhealthy. However, many still line up to eat that shit everyday knowing full well that it's all bad for them.

My mother who suffers from bowel disease once had her Dr. tell her to stay away from McDonalds at all costs. He told her that the food there is so full of unhealthy additives etc that it will not stay in your system for more than a few minutes. Our bodies know how bad it is and will try to get rid of it immediately. After hearing that, I have never eaten a thing there since. Next time YOU go to the golden arches, think long and hard about it first.

They are potatoes. In fact McD's gets first pick of all potatoes in the world for their fries. It's what they brush on them to make them fry just so is the bad part.
