Oh how horrible for you. Those pics make me sad, but I am glad you posted the one of you and your daughter, you both look so happy.
When my Grandmother died, there was a fire in her house after, and what was left from the disaster, stunk of smoke. Its so hard to rid the smell. and the little things I got from my Grandma were fire damaged. My thoughts are with you ![]() [Edited 2/20/06 12:28pm]

Kochka could save our lives, but we couldn't manage to save hers... She was always one for telling us things, but big noises frightened her. I like the rock idea. I might have to make some artwork of some kind though... let's see what I come up with.

[Edited 2/20/06 12:28pm] OH, that smell... Oddly enough, I still have some things that already survived a fire at my great-grandmother's farm... garnets, crystals, and a ceramic statue of a cat. She's the original "Kochka."

It is, at least, a wonderful thing to know that you and your family are safe and beginning to rebuild.
...and, even better to know that you are spending this time together at the seaside

I've never suffered a fire, but these pics darned sure make me respect it! I am SO glad you and the family are OK, Heiress.
What was the cause of the fire, anyway? [Edited 2/21/06 19:47pm] Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Thank you. I hope you feel like you're getting things back together somewhat, on your side... I don't know about you, but that fine soot gets right into my lungs and makes me sick everytime I have to deal with it. Anyway, I think that I can now breathe a sigh of relief.

What was the cause of the fire, anyway? [Edited 2/21/06 19:47pm] Shoddy electrical work. Not that it was old or needed updating, either... The entire house had been redone about 5 years ago... Some official organism came to investigate - they found anomalies. They said it was definitely the electical work, but somehow it's too hard to prove that the former owner (who calls himself an electrician, by the way) was truly negligent. The neighbors beg to differ, when you hear their stories about him... I think he'd better never come back to our neighborhood.
