I'm in a bit of a pickle

If someone wrote you out a cheque for a very large sum of money, and then died suddenly before you were to cash the cheque, and they, by mistake, wrote your name wrong on the cheque, and your bank would NOT accept the cheque, how do you go about getting the cheque re-issued? confuse
Klopf, klopf!

their personal representative/estate executor, or whoever has power of attorney over their affairs, would have to change that

well, i'm not really qualified to advise but i think if the person dies intestate (without a will and without having appointed an executor) the state's probate laws/procedures automatically govern.
the court of the county in which the deceased lived will be where the probate proceedings are filed. i think you would be able to submit a claim in writing, explaining the situation to the court. procedures differ from state to state

good luck

this falls underneath the unfinish earthly business category, in which the powers of the afterworld grant recently deceased beings small amounts of time to rectify any small affairs they may have goofed before departing. personally, i would dig up his body and explain the situation to him. nod

Damn, I think I'll look into getting my name changed with the spelling mistakes and opening a new account then go through all that, but thanks X, you've come through once more smile
