ok, i've always liked you in the past. found you to be levelheaded and sensible, especially over in P&R. for that, i'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and just leave your comments alone. however i hope you realize what spats is about, and what he's done on this thread. his comments on this thread go directly to other comments he's made which have been directly degrading to women, and basically a whole bunch of "women are stupid" B.S. everything that comes from his mouth reeks of B.S, and he was especially offensive to me on this thread by implying that Muse needed to teach her daughter his nonsense. with that said, i hope you understand things a bit better.

Hang on though Fantasy if we do this PK's way surely his past niceties should be disregarded and you should form an opinion simply on this thread.

Which way is it gonna be?

lol ah, but see, i'm not doing things his way. i always liked him in P&R, so i'm hoping he just doesn't realize what kind of person spats is. if he starts to post a bunch of crap, like spats has, then my opinion of him will definitely change. nod

Are you trying to suggest that I'm hiding from you? I've gone on lurk mode for over two years here. It's just a preference.

Not at all but let me say this real simply.....

Everything we say and everything we do demonstrates who and what we are, this thread is a snippet.....from this you probably think i am just an opinionated bully boy.....ask anyone bar Spats here and you will see that could not be further from the truth. If you look at everything he says then you will see what he is really like.
I am sure that you would not like me to form an opinion of you based simply on this interaction, and i won't it will be done over time because we all know that everyday we change and react differently.

And as i have already said if you want the freedom to disagree then allow me the same courtesy.

I'm aware that you don't like this Spats guy. That's fine. But all I ask is that you judge his every future comment based on its own merits rather than reacted based on personal bias and nothing else. I saw the latter in this thread.

Trust me, I don't like the sound of this guy at all now, but I don't see how he did anything wrong in this particular thread. He made a fair comment, and yet still everyone jumped all over him.

Again, I would've been fine with him getting jumped on if he'd said something that actually criticizes the way this woman has raised her child (which would've obviously been based on assumptions)...but he didn't do that. I'm just trying to be fair here, and in viewing this thread as objectively as I can, I see a bunch of people insulting a guy when his actual comment this time didn't warrant it.

I said nothing about changing your opinion of a person based on one thread. All I said was separating the comment from the person, and judging each new comment based on its own merit.

So, based on that, by all means tell me what you think of my comments in this particular thread.

i can see where you're coming from, but for me personally, once someone has lost my respect it is necessary to earn it back. spats has lost all my respect. when i first saw someone getting on him i had a reacion much like yours. i thought "hey, what has this guy done to make everyone hate him so?" i even considered defending him, but never got around to it. then i saw some more of his posts. i still reserved judgement. it actually took quite a while for me to come to hate spats as much as i do. so, if he wants to earn my respect (which i seriously doubt he cares about anyway) then it will take much more than some comments on one thread to change my opinion about him. and as long as he keeps insinuating things with his comments i will post replies to him on any thread he comments on regardless of what was actually said in the thread. he's got a long way to go before he can hope to avoid anything like that. but it's up to him to make the first step. if he continues to post crap, people will continue to reply to his crap. that's the way it is.

How am I back pedalling? I responded to everyone in this thread.

Read through the entire thread. I've said the same thing the whole way through; that someone's every new comment should be judged based on their own separate merits rather than the merits of the past comments made by said person.

I see your point, but I just wish people would only attack him when he makes a new comment that warrants it.

i see. but based on his history with the rest of us here in GD, we all believe his comments did warrant it.

BananaCologne

This has sadly turned into one train-wreck of a thread that's clearly run out of track. lock
