Ex-Moderator | I listen to music when I get up in the morning and when I'm working on projects about the house, cleaning and especially when I'm getting ready to go out somewhere.
In the mornings its ususally fairly quiet out of respect for the neighbors but any other time its fairly loud. not uber loud. But decently so. |

I know a lot of people like listening to music while painting, drawing, or doing any other form of art.... for some reason I don't. Some people use their headphones while walking to and from class.....I don't like that either. I just like being aware of my surroundings I guess. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

Stereo, computer? and when are you usually listening to music? sp and emoticon edit [Edited 2/19/06 13:03pm] I only listen to a limited amout of music while at the computer. What ever it being listened to thus loaded onto my computer at that particular moment. I back up regularly, like you all should be doing, and then I delete most the files off the computer after backing it up. So I only listen to what ever I had ripped or created since the last time I backedup. I listen to CD's when I am in the kitchen and what not, cleaning and what not. I listen to several of my types of music depending on what I want to get done. BlackEyed Peas is the music I focus with right now. It really gets me moving. I listen to my catalogue music with an mp3 player in bed or while outside doing this or that like pulling weeds. I have a car stero, but 90% of the time I let the wife do the DJing there because I am a nice guy like that. Alot of the time I like to use headphones. I don't mean little headphones. I like the big stero headphones that let me hear tones and such thing. I listen to the music soft to medum. Very Rarely will I ever go medum to high levels. I even have wireless headphones. Those come in handy. I have something like 10 pairs of headphones. more discription edit [Edited 2/19/06 14:39pm] News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.

I live in an apartment too, and none of my neighbors speak english and always wanna blast that mexican "mariachi chase-a-nigger" type music until EARLY in the morning. So I made a Prince c.d. with nothing but guitar songs on it and I BLAST the shit. One of Dansa's org hornies

I have to say, when I saw the heading to this topic, I see now it is for something other than what I was going to chime-in on. I thought REDFEATHERS was asking what format we listen to music. On thinking about it in those terms, I want to say that I am fearful that the CD we know and love today will be obsolete tomorrow.
See, I am someone who has only recently started downloading music from iTunes. Truthfully, I hate it. I want to be able to hold the CD in my hands, look at all the artwork, read the credits, and keep it as a physical addition to my collection. I am worried that, one day, we will only be able to get music from Prince by downloading it directly from him. (Yeah, the "directly from him" part sounds nice --- but, again, I want something tangible.) "20/20" just did a story on the record industry's Dirty Little Secret... so we know what corruption has been going-on. (DJ's have known about the conspiracy for years now!) So radio doesn't carry the same validation for me as it once did. Even with satellite radio, I still have my doubts... And, let's not forget, the mom & pop music store is going out-of-business! I apologize for my reply being off-topic, but got so riled-up over it... I wanted to at least add my comments regarding what I originally thought the thread was about. Anyone else feel the same way (tangible vs. download)?

I play music at bedtime. There is a jazz music station and a classical music station that i have been listening to and they relax me and put me right to sleep. And even when i wake up in the middle of the night it's nice to hear it. Very soothing. I don't like it to be totally quiet when i go to sleep.

If I have to work I listen to radio on the net, like an 80s station or something. Or I listen to the radio in the car. On saturday I'm getting an mp3 cd tuner installed in the car so we don't have to listen to inappropriate content music in the radio with the kids.

It totally depends on what mood I am in.
I love to play my Windows Media Player on shuffle. My computer is hooked up through my stereo, so I can make extensive playlists for every mood. But shuffle is fun; the WMP mixes all the song sup, so you can get Demis Roussos, followed by Nirvana. I like it that way. Then, when I am in another mood, I just play one of my playlists, mostly centering on ONE artist. Or I just play an album that fits the mood. The volume depends on what I am playing. Mozart will be normal sounds, Mahler must be loud. Satie must be unintrusive, Prince dance music LOUD, with lots of bass. So. All depends on mood, hun.

I listen almost 24/7. I have it kinda low and mellow at night when I go to sleep on my stereo. Usually, it's some alternative, 80's stuff or some trip hop. When I get up, it gets cranked up a bit and I put it on the local college station for an eclectic blend of indie, 80's, hip hop, etc. At work, it's some cd's going through the pc blastin'. Back at home while I unwind, I have the telly on VH1 Classics, the Retro-Active channel, or some Classic R&B. I got that on kinda low though. "When words fail, music speaks..." --- Shakespeare

i have a weird set-up at home for listening to music. my apartment came with a stereo system, but it's hooked up to speakers in the bathroom only. so if i want big booming stereo sound, i either have to be taking a bath or a poop to enjoy it.
so, in the meantime, i have a good ol' boombox, and i have speakers that i can hook my mp3 player up to, and sometimes i listen to music via my laptop and sometimes when i'm cleaning i'll use my DVD player to listen to music. my apartment's just one big jukebox.

I hook my Nomad up through my computers both at home and work, music all day long. Sometimes, I'll use my headphones, but I spent many years listening 2 very loud music on headphones and subsequently destroyed a nice chunk of my hearing in the process. This kinda scared me (I'm only 30), so I listen at more manageble volumes whenever working out or cleaning the house, during which music is a must.

at a reasonable level at home through my laptop connected to my stereo system.
really loud in the car on the way to work on a cd player that usually shorts out every 5 mins along with some speakers rear speakers that pop periodically and only one working door speaker, but usually it has the day off. at work through a pair of crappy PC speakers at work at a loud volume. so loud that you can hear the mesh, plastic and crappy woofer vibrating. pretty loud while excersising using my ipod with my B&W headphones. i'm pretty sure i'll need a hearing aid in couple of years.
