Am I the only person left without an IPOD? I do not own an IPOD. Reasons why:
1) I don't have time to download music. 2) I barely have time to listen to music anymore. 3) I don't really know what an IPOD does exactly? Am I hopelessly lost dinosaur? I was doing so good keeping up with music trends for so long but now that I'm almost 34, I just can't keep up anymore. All good things they say never last...

Ipod is basically the new "Walkman" and has nothing rally to do with Downloading music. You can...but you don't have too. And you don't really use an ipod to DL anything...it's only a player. You DL everything using your computer.
If you don't have the time to...upload your music to your puter or to put together playlists or to upload that huge assed playlist to your ipod...I'd say don't worry about it. I won't get an iPod because it's too darn proproietary. Christian Zombie Vampires

I don't have one and I don't feel the need to buy one.
I'd like to buy a digital camera though. Not having that makes me a real dinosaur.

My biggest fear is that the CD will become obsolete and everybody will be listening to some format that I completely don't understand. Getting old sucks! All good things they say never last...

It's very handy. I used to think that having so much music with me everywhere wasn't necessary, but it's amazing how quickly I got used to it.

I like the cd-format. At least there is a booklet with pictures, artwork... I miss that when I download just the songs.

Is it just me, or does seeing people waliking around with IPODs irk you? Seems like everyone's in their own little self-centered world, as they walk down the street, oblivious to everyone else around them.

And then it'll phase out like Vinyl. Remember people like "owning" music that they can touch. I do recommend getting into the MP3 thingy though or at least figuring out what that's about. Geez, you people need to get with the times. I took the ipod plunge last October . I never saw a need for it myself. But then my best friend got one and I was checking it out..thought it was pretty cool, but was still , yeah maybe one day ill get one. Then got one as a birthday gift. Now I will tell you its like my child . Its with me in the car at work and at home.It takes some time to upload all those CDs on to your computer. But once its done and you have your whole collection with you in one small handheld device. And its so easy to purchase songs for .99 on itunes(too easy) without having to run to a store a search it out. I still buy CDs for artist I love the most ..to get the whole experience of the artwork and booklet and such.

i don't get the need to have 15,000 hours worth of music with you at one time but it's just another mp3 player, isn't it? nothing particularly different about it??

i have a creative labs NOMAD, which is kind of a poor man's iPod, but screw it - for less money than a regular iPod, i got an mp3 player that holds two times as much music...and it hasn't given me a problem yet. i highly recommend getting an mp3 player, especially if you're a music nut, but it doesn't have to be an iPod.

I don't understand why anybody would want to live without an iPod. The reason I love it is that if I'm out and about and find myself wanting to listen to something specific, I don't have to rely on whatever cds I felt like carrying around that morning when I left the house. My mood changes during the day. If I've got my whole music library with me, my music can change with it. That said, even though it wouldn't hold my whole library, the Nano is a thing of beauty and I want one. Seattle Org Invasion July 28th-30th Third Annual MinneVasion Oct 20-22nd

The iTunes software put me off buying an iPod. I don't know what it's like to run on a mac, but on a PC it's like trying to communicate with the dead. It sounds like my computer is having an asthma attack whilst it's running.
Aside from that, the fact that it has an internal rechargeable battery which has to be replaced by an authorised dealer when it finally dies, put me off too. And the price... iPod's are way too over-priced. I bought a no-name £35.00 player the other month and I love it. There's no faffy software. You just plug it in a USB port, drag the files across and unplug it. I also get about 10 hours playing time from one rechargeable AAA battery. The ear-phones which came with it were shite, so I just substituted some £5.00 Phillips ear-phones and it's perfect. If I lose it or if it breaks, I'll just buy another.

I don't have one, it's an inferior product, not to mention the internal battery, creative zen is a better buy I think. [Edited 2/13/06 13:48pm]

I have 1 as well. It's much more compatible, user-friendly and the storage amount is sick! Listen to me on The House of Pop Culture podcast on itunes http://itunes.apple.com/u...d438631917
