Animal lovers - you will understand my grief...

cry

As many of you know, my house burnt down in December... Just last week, the demolition work began.

Two days ago, between the floorboards, the men found the remains of my beloved cat, Kochka.

sigh

I cried and cried yesterday... it's hard to talk to others about... people tend to say, "well, at least you and your child got out alive..." Kochka was a bit like my child - she was with me for years before my daughter was born... She was, to me, not a posession, but a living soul.

My poor, poor baby. I hope she didn't suffer too much. cry

By the time I heard about her, the demolition men had already disposed of her... so I didn't even get to say goodbye. Maybe it's better that way... I can remember when she was young and beautiful.

Goodbye, Kochka... Rest in peace, my beauty.

I'll post a picture of her, if and when I find one.

She really was. Or still is... I'm going to frame a picture of her, when I find one, and put it in my new house.

oh Heiress, i'm so sorry for you.

the one good thing about all of this is perhaps that now you
know what happened to her and won't have to keep wondering if
she is still out there, scared by the fire, not being able to
find her way back to you.

but i've lost pets too due to outside circumstances and that
hurts a lot.

best wishes for you and your family

especially when they run around outside...

our other kitty seems to have disappeared as well - went out of our temporary apartment, and hasn't come back... i wonder if she hasn't tried to go back to the old house? it's not far. sigh

You know, the one reassurance I have is that I did adopt her from the local shelter and although her life ended tragically... maybe it gave her a few more years of comfort than if she had had to fend for herself, out in nature.

You're right. I can have some sort of closure now... we were wonder if she had escaped or not. I used to call for her around the neighborhood, and put out food just in case.

My little daughter has been sad about her kitty all this time. I tried my best yesterday to explain the circumstances... that we had called for her to come in our room, while waiting for rescue, but that she was too scared and didn't understand that she needed to come to us to escape.

It really helps to talk about this.

She was a cuddly thing, and very social. Yes, the thought of having given her a comfortable home for 7 years or so is something of a reassurance to me. Thank you.

It might be hard for some people to understand... people who don't have the kitty cuddling up to them on their couch, at their ankles, on their leg when they're trying to sleep smile or crunching up their papers on their desk...

Koch was a real part of my life. It's not the same without her.

Oh honey...I'm so, so sorry... sigh

(I'm tearing up at work, here)

I do have a feeling that she probably didn't suffer...the smoke probably lulled her to sleep first. hug

rose for Koch...poor kitty...

I hope you find peace soon...and my kitties (who are fire surviors themselves) can always use another auntie smile
