A few of my cds has gotten some scratches over the years, and not all are that easy to replace, so can anyone tell me what i can do? Anyone tried one of those scracth repair products? Do they work?

Try extracting the WAV files using Isobuster and just burning a new CDR. Put the CDR into the album's CD case and archive the original in a CD wallet under your bed.

Isobuster is very good at reading scratched discs - and it's basic features (like WAV ripping) are free.

Give the CDs a polish first with a little Pledge on a cloth. Don't spray the Pledge directly on the disc. You just need a thumbnail-sized blob on a cloth.

Did Isobuster do the job? Sometimes you have to click "Retry" a few times but unless the disc is completely gouged, it usually works.

I haven`t tried it yet, i`ll see how it works out this weekend smile
Luckily, it doesn`t sound too complicated.

Yeah, it just displays all the tracks on the CD when it starts up. Then you right-click the tracks, choose "Extract to WAV" and pray.

Some do. WHat they are doing is Buffing out the plastic that has scratches. Turtle Wax could do the same thing.

That's for the bottom of the CD

If you get scratches on the top that you can see on the bottom...you're out of luck because the recording was damaged.

I really recommend Justins suggestion...at least then you can save the cd.

I've sometimes copied scratched CDs and the burned copies have turned out fine without any prior preparation.
