I haven't yet gone to any movies this year. I've been watching a bunch of DVDs, but they've all been Doctor Who episodes. smile

The Blockbuster that was closest to me closed down. That's okay, though. I hadn't rented from there in a year.

It showed at Sundance in January I think? It opened in San Fran this weekend. I saw a preview screening with the director. Really fascinating. nod

(For those of you who don't know, it's a documentary about a real case of amnesia)

Spats

Wedding Crashers ruled except for when Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson wimped out at the end and got all sappy. But at least they hooked up with babes.

The acting was phenominal, the storyline was refreshing, and it deserves much more "hype" than Brokeback Mountain, in terms of tolerance.

I second that. The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe was one of my favorite books as a child so I had high expectations from Narnia the movie. Oh yeah, they were met. woot!

Kind of late (these movies were from last year) but my picks are:

"Stay", "Broken Flowers" and "The Aristocrats"...

I wanted to rent "Broken Flowers" but the clerk said it was really bad and I felt like a moron so I put it back and got the safe "Wedding Crashers". I should have asked the guy what he thought of Bill Murray's lastest movies, though.

BTW, the two movies I saw at the show I saw in the same week. I saw the oscar nominated "Capote", with an amazing should win performance by Phillip Seymour Hoffman (same goes for Catherine Keener). And than I saw a movie that will surely be up next year....the arthouse favorite "Big Momma's House 2". Of course not as good as the first but some really big laughs (the Bo Derek scene had me laughing my ass off).

Aw, man, Broken Flowers was #2 on my top ten list of all movies I watched last year (I watch a lot of movies), but I love everything by Jim Jarmusch. Capote was #10 on my list. I agree, Hoffman should win.
