What do you guys think about the new direction the show seems to be taking?

First, they destroy Charlie's credibility; now, Sawyer's. I liked Sawyer's backstory but am disappointed in the ending. I really liked his character and now he's turned completely mad. It didn't make sense to me that he would turn on them like that, after his life had been saved.

Also, what a cop-out to not show us how Sawyer actually confiscated the weapons and hid them. It seems pretty impossible that he could have done that without Locke knowing, especially right after he warned Locke about it.

I think they are trying to create factions out of the main characters; I don't like this. They need to get back to hinting at the mysteries of the island and the characters' fates. Also, the ways in which they are all tied together. The only moment last night in which I felt that they were hinting at any of this was when Sayid and Hurley were listening to the old-timey song on the radio and Hurley suggested that the music was filtering through from another time.

Next week's episode looks promising, but if they end up destroying Sayid's credibility it's over for me.

Of course I'll keep watching, though.

I thought it was a well-done episode, although I'm surprised they're making both Charlie and Sawyer so 'dark'.

Sawyer himself didn't confiscate the guns - Charlie did. Sawyer was in the hatch pressing the buttons - Charlie was following Locke.

Hurley mentioning that the music was from a different time was followed quickly by him saying "I'm just kidding, dude'. I think this was a reference to all the fan theories about time travel, based mainly on writer/producer mistakes, like dates appearing in flashbacks which happened after the crash. They could have just said the crash happened later, apart from things that date it, like Jack's comment about my beloved Red Sox never winning the World Series, which means they must have crashed before October 27th 2004...

But next week's episode looks interesting - if the trailer is to be trusted (and this is no guarantee) they let the clock run out - what will happen?

I did a quick take on what Hurley said. Definitly opened my eyes. Not sure about your date theory though. Most of the flashbacks have been pretty dateless on purpose.

BTW...I liked the episode...A LOT.It was interesting. And at least the back story matched the present. I like hte way the characters are developing in new and interesting ways. One could even say their strange behavoirs could be the "sickness". Maybe it REALLY brings out peoples bad side.

I've been trying to download the episode all day.....completed 6 files sofar, all were fakes.....porn, not even good porn!

Over here they just finished airing the 1st season, will take a while before the 2nd is on.....
