Top Ten Most Romantic Cities/Getaways...

According to a poll on Yahoo, anyway. So, just in time for Valentine's Day, here are the...

Top Ten Romantic Getaways (United States)

1) Islands of Hawaii
2) New York City
3) San Francisco
4) Miami
5) Las Vegas
6) New Orleans
7) Aspen
8) Lake Tahoe
9) Martha's Vineyard
10) Napa Valley

Top Ten Romantic Getaways (International)

1) Paris
2) Rome
3) Venice
4) The Bahamas
5) Florence
6) Sydney
7) London
8) Tahiti
9) French Riviera
10) Fiji

Of course, it's the person you're with that makes a place romantic...not the other way around.

With that, though, how many of these places have you been to??...What cities/places would you add? Anyone saying "Terre Haute, Indiana" will automatically have their Org accounts locked and their possessions conviscated. nod

My vote is for New York and The Bahamas!
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

Out of that list, I've been to:

Paris
Rome
Venice
Florence
London
New York City

My favourite place of these is London, but I don't consider it romantic, the Italian cities are more romantic. The most romantic places I have been to were the beaches of South Africa.

South Africa is beatiful.

Other romantic world destinations well worthy of mention are Livingstone/Victoria Falls in Zambia and Udaipur in Rajasthan, India. Haven't been to the latter but I've heard nothing but blissful things about the place cloud9

A friend of mine just got back from there and totally fell in love with it. She visited another friend who kinda got stuck there and lives there permanently now. And my friend is also considering that idea.
Seems to be really beautiful.

I like London but I don´t find it particularly romantic as a city. But I could imagine that it can make people feel more romantic because it has such an intertesting mix of people and , contrary to what many people think about London, I still find Londoners VERY polite and friendly. It´s really a relaxing place despite the fact that it´s such a big ( and expensive ) city.

Paris is also nice but a bit too rough these days...but still has that magic.

I also find Hamburg romantic wink .

But nothing comes close to sunny places like the Mediterranean cities, whether in Spain, Italy,Turkey or Greece...the sea and some sunshine and wine and great food are the best ingredients to make any place romantic...and, of course, the right kind of person.

You may call me stupid, but I think the city I live in is one of the most romantic cities I ever been to... 'Gent' in my language, 'Ghent' in English.

Been to Paris, Rome, Firenze, London.

One of the most romantic places I've ever been to is in the heel of Italy, most southern part there, called Santa Maria di Leuca.

I like Brussels too. Although it's the capital city, it's not really liked by many Belgians because of it's chaotic vibe, but that's what I like about it... It's the only 'worldcity' we have in Belgium. Gent is more beautiful though. mushy

IMO Brussels has a very international vibe, but at the same time the flair as if it was a small city situated in Southern Europe love. At least it was like that when I last visited it about 10 years ago biggrin.
Maybe I should travel there again and check out Gent as well hmmm lol

The dialect is funny IMO boxed. But then again I am quite sure many People from Hamburg would say that about some Austrian dialects as well lol.

nod I'll guide you through this beautiful city...

I'm from a town near Antwerp. Also a beautiful city, but Gent, I don't know, it has everything: history, funk, originality, intelligence, parties that take 10 days, multiculturality without major problems between the different groups of people, a great university, medieval buildings... love

Ok I'll stop here.

I've been to:

Islands of Hawaii
New York City
San Francisco
Las Vegas
New Orleans
Paris
Rome
Florence
Sydney

Loved each one, for different reasons...I suspect half of these cities are on the list if for no other reason than they are the cities that most people have been to, so they'll get the most amount of votes.

Toronto? i would not put us on the list. This city is pretty cold. In weather and personality. This really hits home when you travel down to the states.

I visit Toronto several times a year and I know about several romantic places.Yeah, some of the people seem cold but I think they're usually just really polite, they warm up when you get to know them.
Cold weather doen't bother me, it can be very romantic You can always keep each other warm,ya know. cool
