Downloading Streaming Radio/Audio

Is there any way of downloading and saving streaming audio/radio and saving it.

I've found a brilliant comedy radio station with archives - some you can save but some are only listen to but Id love to save them and burn them.

Ive tried Download Accelerator but it doesnt seem to want to know...is there any software (free) methods that people can recommend...or is it just a case of the old press record, let it run, then stop

Thanks

Yes, it's possible to rip these files.

Bear with me and I'll write you a tutorial...

Yeah - it was me.

But that was how to record from the BBC Radio Player. You need a different application for the XFM site.

Firstly, download this zip-file and extract the contents onto your desktop.

http://rapidshare.de/file...r.zip.html

It's a very small Streaming WMA Recorder. It's only 39kb and it works!!!

The links you wish to download from on the XFM site are completely straight-forward.

Simply right-click one of the "listen" links on the page and choose "Copy Shortcut".

Open up notepad, right-click and paste. You'll see a long URL, but the important bit starts mms and ends wma. Highlight the important part of the URL by dragging your mouse over it whilst pressing the left mouse-key; right-click again and copy.

In the ASF Recorder, click on "File", then "Open URL..." and simply right-click and paste the information you previously copied.

Choose your location to save your file to, press "Save" and the player will start to buffer the stream, before saving the file as a .wma.

The program may stick once it reaches 100%. If it does, it's fine - just quit the program. Don't quit before 100% though!!!

If ever you need to copy from the XFM Radio Player, it's a bit more tricky. Let me know via OrgNote if you ever need to do this.

Also, I'd recommend the old freeware version of the dBPowerAmp Music Convertor to change WMA files to WAV. Again, if you need a copy, let me know.

I love my TOTALRECORDER. It only cost $12 on the web and you can record any audio. You can also use it to record records, if you have old records you want to make cd's out of.
