Gay Clubs

Inspired by an Orgnote between Cheek and myself, is it just us or do most gay clubs have cheesy or embarrassing names?

Here's a few that Cardiff have had:

~ Club X

~ Atlantica

~ Addiction

~ Detox

~ Wow

~ The Dragon eek

Back in the day - when I was younger and used to come into work on a Monday after a weekend's clubbing - I used to hate the "Where did you go on the weekend?" conversation.

It was always as follows:

Them: "Where did you go on Saturday?".

Me: "Er, um, ah, Wow".

Them: "Where?".

Me: "Wow!"

Them: "What are you on about?"

Me: "Never mind" rolleyes

lol

Or I used to feel like I should've been in some black & white Calvin Klein advert, whispering "Addiction".

confused

Tell me some of your embarrassing club names. smile

The gay bars down Canal Street in Manchester are quite stylish. I like Tribeca a lot. No doubt some have some camp names but I can't think of any. Well, perhaps 'Velvet' maybe. It was cool in the summer, me and my mate went for a pint down there outside and they were playing Prince hits quite loud from the inside.

when i lived in indiana, the hot place to go was a club called NEW YORK CONNECTIONS - i have no idea what the new york connections in question WERE, but we didn't care. then we'd go across the street to BETTY BOOP'S, which was a little bit more, um, earthy. lol

There's one near me called Utopia, though everyone calls it Fruitopia

Some of the other ones we've had...

- The Troubadour (the place was falling apart though, the mens bathroom caved in, and people started referring to it as The Plywood Palace, till the building was condemned)

- Sophies

- Phil's Place

- Queen of Hearts

- The Exchange

- Joshuas

- The Mixx

- Paige's

- The Blue Note

- The Funky Skunk

- Club 441

- Someplace Else

- The Bull & Bear (though people were calling it The Bold and the Beautiful)

- The Chamber
