what about:
man kills woman he met at a wedding, man kills woman he met at the supermarket, man kills woman he met at a friend's house, man kills woman he met in a dark alley, man kills woman he was married to, man kills woman is related to.

Usually not such a big deal is made where they met.

then again hasn't it always been this way? domestic abuse a problem here and elsewhere? systematic supression of, discrimination against and abuse of the female gender? i think it goes back a long, long way. and maybe the media today is better than before so we hear about it more often.

Less stuff happens than before, but we hear about EVERY little thing in the media (and that's not including anything that happens in China, or India, or Africa). Crimes against women are as old as patriarchal society - women rise against their sub-ordination and become targets of hatred.
