why does beatrice end up glowering at margaret, making margaret cry? She turns into a complete bitch at the end of the story. I think Margaret commits suicide, which is why the last picture is the sun.. ..cos she dead

Ex-Moderator | I've always felt my life outside of my job has defined me way more than the work I do, if that's what you're getting at. Usually when people ask me what I do for work I tell them it's the least interesting thing about me and move on with the conversation. That, and it can tak 15 minutes to explain what I do. Which is annoying and most people really don't care.

So what DOOOO you do??? I manage a group of people who direct the calls flows for 3 different business groups within Target Finanacial Services between about 8 different contact centers all over the world. We get about 80,000 contacts (phone calls, email, etc.) a day. The people who report to me sit at a desk with 8 flat panel monitors watching the 50+ types of calls we support come into and out of our site here, in Canada, in India, etc. Oh, and they also do first level technical support for about 1000 users. Yeah, it's real boring. |

What types of answers do you usually expect when/if you yourself ask other people what they do? What type of answers are you hoping for? How do they usually answer? At what point in a conversation (if ever) do you think it's most appropriate to ask this question? Just curious...

Yeah, it's real boring. How did you get that job? Did you find it yourself or was it recommended to you by someone else? Since you apparently think it's boring, what is keeping you there? Good pay? Good benefits? A comfortable and stable situation? Bad alternatives? Again, I'm just curious...

I tickel Prince's Feet.
I make videos. I play guitar. I paint oil pictures. I cook. I sing. I write. I like to see how deep thoughts really go. I fly. News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so. You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

retina, do you happen to have a copy of this book?
i've got a copy of it, and that comic's in it. i dig it, because it's a strong reminder that you gotta live life, as well as working at a job to pay your bills. what you do should never be limited to just your job. as for me: i draw comix and create a little graphic art as well. i collect vinyl, underground comix and 'zines. i send presents to my friends (money permitting). i people-watch and learn more about where i live by riding on the bus. i play with my cat. i read a lot.

No, I actually came across the comic strip while googling for "jihad", believe it or not. I'll keep an eye out for the book though. It seems interesting. Thanks! And your life sounds very nice and rewarding, by the way, as does ThreadCula's. .

What I do is way more interesting than my main job. When people ask me what I do, I intuit their question, and if they're a Margaret, I pause and say, "You mean, how do I pay my bills?" Otherwise I say...
I mentor teen filmmakers I go to a lot of plays, concerts, movies, shows, ballet... I play violin in the Punk Rock Orchestra I make films I travel I'm working on a cell phone symphony to be performed on May 6 I work for the film festival I meditate But if you're a Margaret, I work part-time as a bookkeeper. Which is really the least of what I do.
