Awww...you should start, go with something cheap like stamps would be my suggestion. I suppose some could consider DVDs a "collection" or CDs. Hmmm hmmm In that case, I have 3 "collections."

I collect books. I don't have too many valuable ones, though I do have some, but I have an interesting collection of modernist and twentieth-century literature and also a good many books on Russia. I also collect books on travel writing.

nothing special.....I do have a lot of keychains though. I'm addicted to them. I had to take some of them off because too many will mess up your ignition. So I'll put them on zippers of my bags now.

I have 100s of CDs, and stamps, but I am not actively collecting any more, they already take up way too much space. I don't even buy books, they cost too much and I only read them once. Same with DVDs, I never watch a movie more than once so I don't see the point in it sad

Besides Prince music...

--Marilyn Monroe stuff--I have all of her movies, assorted 'coffee table' books, biographies, magnets, posters, magazine articles, collectibles/knick knack type of stuff, etc. I heart Marilyn.

--contemporary art; no one super famous (yet) biggrin , but a few Seonna Hong prints, and then mostly stuff I've purchased from staff art shows from the museums where I've worked. The stuff I really like is too expensive for my museum salary... sad

--books, I guess, mostly either art criticism, art history (esp. contemporary and art of India), or books having to do with French things, or Africa. I've tried to cut back b/c my bookshelf is overflowing!!

--magnets (the cheesy touristy kind) from places I've been and souvenirs my friends bring me from their travels: items like woven baskets from Namibia, jewerly box from Morocco, elephant figurine from Thailand, etc.

--quotes/lyrics that I find humorous or interesting or sort of inspiring...I write them all down in journals...

--the "new" quarters from each US state (no idea why I started, but the completist in me won't let me stop...)

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

I used to collect comic books and everything put out by certain musical artists. In recent years, though, I've grown to generally hate "stuff"lol , and I've thrown out or given away hundreds of dollars worth of much that I own.

My wife, a card-carrying packrat, thinks I'm insane.
