I think the idea is to kiss once so as to not appear over zealous. If you are encouraged to do more than you should. Play your cards right and you might get a tongue sarnie!

It gets very confusing! I have Italan and Dutch relatives and Itlian is left then right cheek, Dutch is right then left then right again, I think confuse Go the wrong way and you can meet in the middle not so bad if they are cute but not good if it's great uncle mafiosi Giuseppe!! redface

So when in the UK I say a good firm handshake and a pat on the back typed hug if you have known them for 10 years or more.

My greeting depends on who you are. I have friends I ALWAYS hug and friends I rarely hug. I have friends (mostly casual gay male friends) who kiss me on the cheek for every greeting, and I usually don't really kiss them back. More like I just 'allow' them to kiss me. It kinda makes me feel like a grandmother, though. giggle When traveling, I go with the flow and usually allow the other person to make the first move and fall in step with whatever.

Fauxie

I don't know what I'd do now if I were in England. It feels a little strange to me now. In Thailand I wouldn't greet anyone with a kiss, except of course my wife, but rarely out in public. I think I've only kissed relatives as a greeting or when saying goodbyes, not female friends.

Thanks for all your input. I think I'm just going to resort to jumping on people and humping their leg. Don't be offended, that's just me.

Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect, it means you've decided to look beyond the imperfections... unknown
