Is Valentine's Day overrated?

Just thought to ask, some women feel that it is a "girl's" or "feminine" holiday, while some guys (who are in relationships) feel like it doesn't hurt for females to splurge on them instead....what r ur thoughts on this???
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

yes it is overrated.
But I still want flowers.
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

The whole day caters to women. Listen to any radio show or the news and they are always making suggestions to men on what to do for their woman and what to get her. Yadda, Yadda, Yadda. Not the other way around. It is a woman thing. it's not for men. And yes it's overrated.

It's mostly overrated, but I think it's still a fun excuse to go out and have a nice date. biggrin My boyfriend and I are both getting each other gifts; i'd feel weird if he just got me something.

Co-sign to that. Does anybody think that having a husband/boyfriend/significant other in their life is overrated? I do.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

It's the same with clubs. All of them have "ladies night" or "ladies get in free before 11 pm". Crap like that. It all caters to women. It makes you sick

The club world isn't the real world.

You'll find that out in about ten years.

I usually love this holiday even when I'm not dating anyone...(I love most holidays...as some one dear to me pointed out I'm a "holiday whore" lol ) but... sigh I'm just having trouble getting into the spirit of anything lately. I'm feelin' the funk. sad

That's because you are a woman and the day us catered to women. Men don't get shit.

I always get a kick out of watching all the queers scrambling to find a boyfriend for V day, going to the bars and putting on a nauseating public display of affection show, then watching their relationship crash and burn a week later.

any opportunity to tell your partner that you love him/her is a good thing. you don't have to give into the commercialization of it - just do your own thing.

oh, and Spats, "ladies night" is not for the ladies per se, it's to attract women for the guys to look at - so don't knock it, it's been working in your favor.

Isn't that basically catering to straight men? If I was a straight guy, I would want to walk into a bar full of nice looking women, not a handful of nasty old drunk men.

Women generally don't seem to bring alot of money out to the bars, particularly younger women. Many of my (straight) female friends, will go out with like 5 bucks to their name, and still manage to drink like a champ. Guess who's picking up the tabs?...

Gotta lure them in somehow...

talk to me about fairness when women receive equal pay, are fairly represented in corporate board rooms and in political offices, and are no longer treated as second class citizens by the medical establishment.

until then, it would serve you well to focus on things that really matter.

And tell me about fairness when they start paying for the dates, doing the asking, proposing marriage. Women only want equality when it suits them. Until they want equality in EVERYTHING then i will listen about things not being fair for women. biggrin

just because the women YOU meet don't do those things doesn't mean they're not done. have you considered that these women didn't WANT to buy you dinner, or didn't WANT to marry you? introspection is a very attractive trait in a man, by the way!
