I saw this film in the theater when it was first released here. It was very strange--the whole merging of man and machine by the end.

as a kid
this one disturbed me the most:

because my sister
was into alot of things
and I always imagined
it happening to her
"be who you are and say what you feel
because those who mind don't matter
and those who matter don't mind."

House Of Wax. It was just nasty. Especially when that one guy was turned into a wax figure and his friend was tring to peel him out. He was still alive and his skin was coming off from being boiled in wax. Ewwww

The Fly (fingernails coming off)
American History X
Saw
Saw 2

I have watched the first half of The Jacket with Adrian Brody. It may go on this list when I watch the rest tonight.

Clearly, no one has seen THE MACHINIST(?!?). One look at Christian Bale in that movie will keep you from sleeping for weeks.

cinematographically?

That's part of why it's so disturbing, is it's actually GOOD as a film and so effective. shake That's why people hate Leni Riefenstahl so much. Because she was such a good filmmaker. If she wasn't, people wouldn't care nearly as much or have ostracized her to the level that they did.

Serpent and the Rainbow, Faces of Death and some bootleg movies I saw overseas in Germany. The actresses were literally killed on film! I will never forget that movie as long as I live. The video store owner threw it in the bag and said if I like Faces of Death I would love this. Yeah right! Then after I was totally traumatized my boyfriend at the time asked me if I wanted to watch a porno! Lord help me!

Actually, I haven't seen it, but I'm getting a copy soon.I've read it's quite disturbing very David Lynch like. Here's a review I found at amazon.com.

I give it four stars for that (See the review title), but don't misunderstand me and think that I liked this movie. It does its job delving into the concept of evil. The presence was almost tangible throughout the movie.

The scene with the frog alone was enough to give me nightmares. Trying to identify exactly why it frightened me so much is difficult. First of all, the murder of an innocent creature and the complete indignity in the way it was done. (The little boy stuck a read in the frog's butt and blew it up so that it was bloated. Then he shot it with a sling so it exploded all over this English lady. The expressions on the faces of the little boys as they did this creeped me out, the dark, sexual almost satanic overtones of the act frightened me.)

The later lack of remorse frightened me even more.

From there on, the film only gets worse. Those teenagers in the car were even more terrifying. The failure of Seth to speak up when he saw them drag his friend in the car gave me the chills. He seemed to think of them as a force of nature, all powerful and unstoppable. The total lack of explanation about their origin made this even worse. Like demons or something, their black car rolled out of nowhere into this strange backwards place and rolled away just as quickly. They are some of the most frightening characters that I've ever met.

This movie is truly terrifying although it only hints at the supernatural.

Oh yeah, the acting (especially on the little boys' part) was terrible, but the true vile degradation of the plot dominates the story and so I didn't really care.

This movie would be scary if they filmed it using sock puppets

It's out of print in the U.S.,btw available officialy on VHS, altough available in Japan on a W/S DVD, go figure!

I saw this a years ago in a movie theater. It was creepy, but I thought it was kind of cool. Kind of arty and beautiful. I don't remember the disturbing parts, just the underlying vibe of something sinister (sexual abuse?) but it's all alluded to and somewhat subtle.
