Oh man, I was flipping through channels and it looks like they are showing repeats of this show! Did any of you guys watch that when you were a kid? I did and loved it. Looking forward to watching tonight!

I never watched it, but apparently my wife was a big fan. She's got me hooked on the new generation episodes.

Never watched any of those, but I am intrigued by Jay and Silent Bob being on The Next Generation.

I never realized what this was until I saw that this DVD was coming out called "Jay and Bob Do Degrassi". I ended up renting it and it wasn't. The extras reveal that Kevin Smith did the show because he was a huge fan. It was interesting to hear his history of his obession with the show....the shows were only OK (he wasn't a writer because everything has to be tied with Canada since they reciveve public funds). I bet it's not a bad show.

I love the old Degrassi series and I am starting to play catch as I watch them on Noggin sometimes, even though they comes on too damn late. I can related to many of the characters. I also like the new Degrassi series too even if some episodes are rehashed from the old ones. The series inspires me a lot as I write stories for teens because the characters and the storylines are much believable than other teen tv series I seen (ahem Saved by the bell and other Peter Engel TNBCrap shows)

I had a crush on Joey ( I have weakness for Italian men) and he looks very fine even now as he appear on the new Degressi series quite a bit as one of the kids (Greg, I believed) stepfather. And also Joey had that band called Zip something? I like how the series touched some heavy topics like abortion, racism, drugs, self-image, and much more. And also I like the fact how the characters were realistic. Hell those kids were so damn real that I forgot sometimes they were actors.

I think the reason why the new Degrassi happened to be Noggin's hittest show is because the new generation able to relate to some of the characters and the issues they are going through. Some of the topics are so controversial that people from the Degrassi boards claimed Noggin edited some of the scenes and also that Noggin never aired certain shows such as the abortion episodes. Like the old series one of the girls Manny got pregant and she even up getting an abortion. I hated edited episodes but luckily some of the Degrassi series are available to purchase.

I also like the first episode when Stephanie told her younger brother not to tell anyone at school they were siblings. That was messed up but at the same time I feel the same way when my little brother and I attended the same school. Anyway I watched the series when I was eleven and it came on my local PBS station and some of the topics were shocking to watch. I am still suprised my local station were bold enough to air Degrassi since I live in a small conservative city.
