I'm A Runnin' Fool!

Unbelievable!

I have started running/jogging/power-walking since mid November, now I'm up to 5 miles a day three to four days a week!

Last Saturday, I engaged in my very first 5K run! I ran 3 miles in 34 minutes! I know this is not a record setting run, but for me it is!

I wake up at 4AM and run at 4:30AM with a crew of people who motivate and challenge you!

It's a whole new world for me and I'm loving it! I have my MP3 player with a slew of Prince songs (among other fast-paced songs) to run with, which I highly recommend doing - it really helps!

Anyway, thought I'd give you a slight view into my current lifestyle change, and wish you all great health in the New Year!

Peace-Out!

This is great! smile

I just recently started running also. I use to fast walk and slow jog but I have gotten to where I can actually run, now. I LOVE IT. Makes me full of energy and it's a big boost for my day, or evening. I use to admire people who could run, and I always wondering how and where they got the drive for it, ya know?

Now that I run, I have been losing weight in places I NEVER eek thought possible!

Good for you! It's a bit addicting, isn't it? Having an mp3 player makes all the difference in the world! Do you enjoy jogging with others more than you do on your own? I started running in April and have enjoyed it quite a bit. I can only run sporadically for now, since it's winter in Minnesota and I don't feel like forking over the dough for a gym membership. Nonetheless, I look forward to the warmer weather so I can get back outside.

I have a feeling this thread may become a photo whore op.

Running becomes an addiction. Soon you will be running marathons.

My biggest piece of advice to new runners is to not overdo it (build slowly) and to buy new shoes every 400-500 miles. Also, if you feel like something is starting to hurt take some time off. You will feel like you are going to lose everything but a few days off is much better then a few months off which happens to almost all beginning runners.

thnax hug in my late teens/early 20's i used to run 2-5 miles 4-6 times a week ...

should have never stopped ... I made the choice to invest that time into my kids ... so now that they are all older...I am shifting my choices back

It's all very enjoyable... and yes, mp3 changed it all and made it even more fun. Bought the running shoes, got the gear... now it's on!

GREAT June 7!

I used to run quite a bit also...but gave it up. Finally, this January, I
decided to do something about my weight (I got up to 233, on a 5'7" frame).
Running at that weight is almost impossible, so I started to power walk/run on
a treadmill at the rec center.

Last fri I weighed in at 213.5 lbs (mostly by watching HOW MUCH I eat and
giving up on Pop)

It's a struggle for sure (tonight I took the family out to Outback Steakhouse
and ordered fish and veggies, but my son couldn't take the spiciness of his
fetticine alfredo, so we traded plates sad )

But, tomorrow, I'm heading to the rec center at 5:30 am...Thanks for the
motivation June 7!
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.

i started running this year, too and i really enjoy it. there're are some really steep hills near my house and we walk up the first one and then run for the rest of the way. sometimes we do more running and sometimes we do more walking but it always feel great.
