I'm glad they showed much love for Capote. I'm a bit shocked, pleasantly so, to see it picked up a Best Director nomination. And Jake Gyllenhaal receiving any sort of nomination? I love Brokeback Mountain, but he was the film's real weak point. People should get over his face.

As expected, Brokeback Mountain lassoed the most Oscar nominations, earning citations for Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, and performers Heath Ledger, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Michelle Williams. Crash, which scored the top prize over the weekend at the Screen Actors Guild, was close behind with six nods, tying with Good Night, and Good Luck. Five nominations went to Capote, tying with Munich, which had received little love from the pre-Oscar awards. And it was a big morning for George Clooney, who earned multiple nominations for directing and cowriting Good Night and playing a supporting role in Syriana.
Nominees were announced by past Oscar winner Mira Sorvino and Academy president Sid Ganis in a pre-dawn press conference at Academy HQ in Los Angeles. Winners will be revealed at the Academy Awards on March 5. The ceremony will be broadcast live on ABC from Hollywood's Kodak Theatre. Best Picture Brokeback Mountain Capote Crash Good Night, and Good Luck Munich Best Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, Capote Terrence Howard, Hustle & Flow Heath Ledger, Brokeback Mountain Joaquin Phoenix, Walk the Line David Strathairn, Good Night, and Good Luck Best Actress Judi Dench, Mrs. Henderson Presents Felicity Huffman, Transamerica Keira Knightley, Pride & Prejudice Charlize Theron, North Country Reese Witherspoon, Walk the Line Best Supporting Actor George Clooney, Syriana Matt Dillon, Crash Paul Giamatti, Cinderella Man Jake Gyllenhaal, Brokeback Mountain William Hurt, A History of Violence Best Supporting Actress Amy Adams, Junebug Catherine Keener, Capote Frances McDormand, North Country Rachel Weisz, The Constant Gardener Michelle Williams, Brokeback Mountain Best Director George Clooney, Good Night, and Good Luck Paul Haggis, Crash Ang Lee, Brokeback Mountain Bennett Miller, Capote Steven Spielberg, Munich Space for sale...

interesting that every best film nom's director picked up a nomination..ive never seen the two fields be sync'd like that.. also, kinda suprised that 8 nominations is most any film recieved. i wonder if that means theres not much love out their for any of these films.... Space for sale...

backlash? 8 nominations for such a small film is a lot, imo. You got to consider all the technical nominations, ie. sound, special effects, etc don´t really apply to this film Go brokeback!!!

The list for Best Song nominees is really disappointing. Three songs, and one of them that terrible It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp? Can't wait to see that performance. Maybe Dolly will win it.

I don't share your hate for her, but it is tiresome that they nominate her for everything she does. Mrs. Henderson Presents is a good little film, but hardly worthy of any award consideration.

it´s also disappointing that such a beautiful song as "a love that will never grow old" from Brokeback Mt. couldn´t be nominated.

Hate is a big word, I just can't stand her.....she is a reason for me not to go see a movie she's in..... And yes, it does feel she's being nominated for whatever she does, doesn't it??
