Byron said: BucketOfBouncyBalls said: I'm sorry
that doesn't make things better or take the pain away. I think I relate...I hate hearing a short "sorry" from someone when there's issues between us...it seems insincere and almost obligatory. There's a quote I love about how a cold apology is almost a second insult, because the "injured party" doesn't want to be compensated because they've been wronged; they want to be healed because they've been hurt. Make the apology sincere and heartfelt, instead of something that sounds like it was painful to say and that you just want to get out of the way... I relate to this. It's sometimes used as a way for people to wriggle out of an explanation. Shut up already, damn.

Nice - it really has no great meaning - at school we were not allowed to use it, we had to use another word that had more expression, meaning toward it
Like - ditto Hate - it is often used too casually these days, to actually HATE someone is a really big thing. Its taken for granted alot IMO God - in the wrong context - many people use this in a blasphemous way. If you dont believe in God, why use it? and if you DO believe in God, why use it in conjunction with a swearing/slang/negative expression? grammar edit.. [Edited 2/1/06 13:28pm]

No particular word or phrase, just anything that sounds meely-mouthed/sugar-coated/untrue. Be honest, cut the shit & get on w/ it. I can take whatever you got

My mother HATES the word 'backside', meaning 'bum'.
This is not quite the same but I always remember my Aunty Maureen - who's very religious - hating that song 'Don't Mess With My Toot Toot'. I must've been about 7 or 8 and I was in this bar and made friends with this other kid. I happened to mention she hated that track so the little git went and put it on the jukebox about 5 times in a row. My Aunty was disgusted. Maybe I'll do a Serial Mom later, call her up, whisper 'Toot Toot' and put the phone down. (Sorry, it's Friday. I'm in an odd mood today). [Edited 2/3/06 4:04am]
