eric avery"s exhibition in chicago at columbia college

this doctor has an exhibition at my school columbia college's book and paper center gallery http://metromix.chicagotr...6161.event
i could not find all of the images but the exhibition is in collaboration with other artist who do printmaking. the subject focuses on aids patients. i was blown away by his printmaking and compassion. he has worked in Somalia in a refugee camp which i believe inspired him to do his woodcuts for printmaking.

For thirty years I have made prints, paper and worked as a physician and psychiatrist.

My art, primarily prints, explore issues such as human rights abuses, and social responses to disease (HIV and Emerging Infectious Diseases), death, sexuality and the body.

My art medicine actions have given structural form to the liminal space between art and medicine.

I have had numerous solo exhibitions in the United States and my prints are in many collections, including the Fogg Art Museum at Harvard University, The Library of Congress, ARS Medica Collection at The Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Boston Museum of Art, the National Library of Medicine, the Cushing/Whitney Medical Library at Yale University School of Medicine. In England, my work is included in The Wellcome Trust Library for the History and Understanding of Medicine.

I am a consult/liaison psychiatrist at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, Texas where I work in the HIV and Hepatitis C Clinics.

Dear Robert is a digitally enlarged nude photograph of a friend who died of AIDS. The photo is overprinted with the linoleum block print used previously in FaeryLand:

http://docart.com/actions...tions.html this is sort of a interactive art piece where he kind of interpreted his version of aids in the body and also gave free aids tests inside. (this one is not at my school)
