Stupid Expressions

Here's a few:

My Gran would always say "Sure as eggs". Yes, eggs. I'm not sure what makes them so sure but you always know where you are with them.

'Acting the goat' - meant to describe someone who likes to mess about, being silly. As in "That boy is acting the goat".

A particular favourite: 'God's pop' meaning 'water'. Only old people seem to say this. As in "Have a drink of God's pop", always with a hearty chuckle.

Share your's. I wanna learn. smile

Is that anything like Jesus Juice? I remember Jesus Juice nod we used to get it all the time at MJ's house.
Klopf, klopf!

That's true. Although both are quite frightening experiences I'm sure. I get nervous when stroking horses.

When looking to buy a horse, you check their mouth to see a part of a mean of seeing if they are healthy.

If you look in the mouth of a horse that is a gift you are bemeaning the gift, taking it for granted so to speak.
I'm firmly planted in denial

Byron

"The whole kit and kaboodle"...wtf is a kaboodle? Apparently it comes with a kit. And apparently when you get both, you've gotten everything there is to get...

"The bee's knees"...I didn't even know bees had knees. And if they do, I don't suspect that they look all that great...

"Chew the fat"...I don't know what chewing fat has to do with having a conversation, but if anyone's chewing any fat of any kind, I'd rather they keep their mouths closed and not try to talk while doing so...
