This is embarassing, but AI, when he gets abandoned by his mother in forest, android or not, this scene really upsets me.

ok urs is more embarrassing than mine I always cry when kids are separated from their mothers. Remember that scene in the beginning of I am Sam where they leave the hospital and the mum just runs away, that left me really uspet. I could never watch Sophie's Choice.

Going through my DVD collection, this may seem corny, but:
It's A Wonderful Life Ghost Dirty Dancing (just one scene) Finding Neverland The Sixth Sense Home Alone 2 (don't laugh! It's the end scene with Brenda Fricker) A League Of Their Own (the end when Kit wins the league) Muriel's Wedding Strictly Ballroom While You Were Sleeping [Edited 1/29/06 2:10am]

Same. Having just lost my mom myself, that movie cut right through my soul. Bawled like a baby, I did.

It seems mostly kids' movies are what make me cry. Grown-up tearjerkers just don't tug at my heart, for some reason.
-Hook -The Land Before Time -Watership Down -A Little Princess are the big ones. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

Well somebody had to say it! But really? Do you cry from any movies? (and not just cause they're bad?) Not usually, no. It's happened, but it's very rare. The last time it happened was not long ago though. I saw "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance" and there was a scene in which children are killed in the most brutal ways. It was the most horrible thing I've ever seen on screen and when I got home and thought about it, it made me cry.

im not a weepy person but i found that upsetting too. You saw it too? I'm sorry to hear that. It was really deeply disturbing. One of the few things I wish I'd never seen. Most people laughed their way through most of that movie though, which made me even more sick to the stomach. Thank you for understanding how I felt. Most people didn't. [Edited 1/29/06 4:45am]

[Edited 1/29/06 4:45am] the people who were laughing probably just went for the gore. sympathy for mr Vengeance and oldboy were a lot more bloody. i thought the film was good but it is very very disturbing and to not be upset by it is just creepy . There are a few, many of which have already been mentioned, but a few that really get me blubbing are:
Good Will Hunting, Vanilla Sky, Stand By Me, The Elephant Man, It's A Wonderful Life, and of course...E.T.

Phantom of the Paradise

Imitation of Life.
The scene where the mother tracks Sarah Jane down for the last time. This line gets me every time: Sarah: And please, if you pass me on the street. Don't recognize me. The actress is soo good here. I'm bawling all through that scene, culminating when the mother leaves and the friend says "So, honey chile you had a mammy?" and Sarah Jane replies "Yes. All my life." And I feel the agony for her to force her mother away and the thirst for her right to live in a world without prejudice. It's too much for me.

But on the rare occasions I watch it...I am beyond moved by the bond between Celie and the woman her husband loves, who should be her enemy ...but becomes her savior. The part that gets me most is when poor dumping looking Celie is sitting in the juke joint when all the men oogle Ms. Shug. And they are the contrast between repulsion and desire. It would have been easy for Shug to ignore and demean Celie here but instead she sings the "Sister" song to her (my fav of the whole movie). That's gets me crying every time. "I bet you think I don't know nuthin. But singin' the blues. Well sister, have I got news for you. I'm sumthin' I hope you think that you're sumthin too. ...Lately, I've been down that lonely road and I've seen a lot of sun's goin' down. But trust me no LOW LIFE'S gonna run me around. So let me tell you sumthin, Sister, remember your name..."
