Moderator | paranoid I flipped out yesterday.
I flipped out at work yesterday. I've been really depressed so I started taking St. John's Wort and it made me a little.... how should I say this, MANIC. I was talking really fast and loud shaking, sweaty the whole deal. I told the teacher I partner with why I was hyper and that I was depressed and everything and she basicly told me don't take pills go see a shrink. I couldn't sleep lastnight cuz I was so RAAAAA!!!! so I took vicoden and crashed. I woke up with a headache and just felt really drained so I called out sick today. Then I called my teaching partner to tell her I'd be out she seemed pissed because now she has more work to do but I told her I had really bad cramps(I do alittle) and maybe getting my period is part of why I was acting so nuts. Then 10 min later the school nurse calls me and wants to know if "Everything is ok?" I told the nurse that I just had bad cramps that's why I didn't go to work. She said " oh ok..." and seemed satisfied with that. She then told me she had to make a report about anyone who called out sick because of complaints about the flu going around. This makes no sense to me. Now I'm paraniod my partner said something about me being a few sandwiches short of a picnic. Damn it I shoulda just gone to work today. Made me very hyper glad I'm not the only one, because I read about it like crazy before I took it and everything I read said that the only sideeffect was sensitivity to sunlight. I really hope my partner didn't say anything about me. Thanks Mach In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |

That's all. well depending on the mg % ... that may have been to much to start off with ... herbs should be taken in very small amounts and slowly built up to reg dose ... I would just steer clear of it for a week or so ... then you may want to try one pill with a meal each evening for a couple weeks...

Don't worry, hon
I'm sure it's true that your partner had to make a report about the flu. The flu is considered an infectious disease and is tracked...even if you look on the weather channel Web site (www.weather.com) you can find a map that shows where the flu cases are the worst in the country. Plus, news outlets report where flu outbreaks are locally. It's all valid stuff and just needs to be tracked when you work in a school. I'm sure you're fine.

Awww dont worry
You need some time to relax anyway. And I'm pretty sure the nurse was just doing a flu check. "Nobody makes me bleed my own blood...NOBODY!"

Try not to worry, Sweeny79. That's sometimes easier said than done, I know, but it will only make you more anxious. I'd take their word for it and see how things go. And there's a lot of good advice in the posts above.
I hope you have a great weekend. Take care.

Sometimes it helps just to do simple things like that. Just to take time out itself. Treat yourself this weekend and put yourself first! Take care. x [Edited 1/27/06 9:05am]

I've used it for short-term cases of depression and have had great results. But I do NOT recommend taking herbs in pill form. Most people who experience unpleasant side effects from nontoxic herbs are taking them in pill form. Pills ususally have unbalanced levels of "active" ingredients. A tincture (alcohol extract) of the whole plant is much more balanced, having all the components of the herb in the same balance that nature intended. The Normal Whores Club

Be careful taking supplements like that. You should really talk to a doctor first. And vicodin will give you horrible headaches...I'm on them now for dental work I had done and they're making me nautious. Have you tried to exercise? Getting a good cardio session in each day really takes the edge off and gets your endorphins to kick in. Sounds silly but it really works and can be very beneficial to you.

Or an herbalist. I wouldn't go to an herbalist for an X-ray, and I wouldn't go to a doctor for information on herbs. The Normal Whores Club
