I agree he was lying in spirit and the whole thing shows how not normal he is, but I'm just saying I don't remember him saying "the baby's fine," but rather "everything's fine" What he said could be interpreted as "Don't gossip," and "God has a plan." [Edited 1/27/06 17:14pm] Exactly my point. Now if U are saying that Mr.Grey reaped the Rewards of OPRAH show, well thats true, but many have Lied and Pimped product on that show. Everyone from Dr. Phil to Halle Berry to Jamie Foxx, to Prince to Michael J to Geroge Michael to the Friends Cast. I mean lets be real here, i mean the book is filled with alot of Made up things, but honestly more than half the population of the USA has no clue what a Novel or Fiction or Non Fiction is, or can read. Oprah attacked this guy, mainly because she blew it, which is cool, she covered her ass, but she lied to get him back on this show, yes she did, thats already being discussed. This guy is an addict, that MUCH is true, and proven and thats what the book is about, I mean how many writers that say they are TRUE stories really are??? But what OPRAH has done is open the door for everyone to jump on the Bashing Bandwagon, i honestly think that if this guy falls off the Wagon again and starts drinking and drugging and maybe kills himself, Oprah should take the blame for that. Oprah changed her tune to save her own reputation. She realized that she was the only one siding with him.

Not defending Oprah, because she was just covering her ass, as you say. But if your book is not true, it's fiction--which is apparently how he tried to sell it in the first place. I have no problem with lying in a novel, or even lying to the press to preserve your privacy. But profiting with money & fame and building your character off of lies is wrong in my opinion. There has to be some accountability. James Bond can claim whatever he wants, but I can't claim to be a Nobel Prize winner and take the accolades if I'm not. Check this song out at:

Oprah works my nerves but I'm more afraid of her audience and loyal fans. That glazed over eager to appease their guru look on their faces really makes me uneasy. They do whatever she says without thought or objection regardless of how absurd it may be. The way they booed and hissed when Frey came out, jeez u'd think he lied about a reason for war or something. Where was this audience when Tom Cruise decided to play everyone like a harp and use the chair as a trampoline?
Oprah is a hollow guru for a hollow society. Imagine what she could do if she actually used that type of power for something other than appeasing middle class suburban housewives.

lastdecember said: WOW, i really cant stand this woman, its nothing personal, she is just FAKE. Today I watched part of her show and saw what she is really about.
Ok we all know the scandal thats going on, OPRAH talked about this book and now it turns out that some facts were made up, some were exaggerated but some true. OK fine who cares, about 90% of what is said to be real is FAKE anyway. But OPRAH feels now that she was duped, personally, so she now has an agenda, but of course she hides it behind her audience and tries to come off as a hero. Thats my first problem, my second problem is that OPRAH is a flat out liar, even more than this guy who wrote the book. She called in to the Larry King show 2 weeks ago when the scandal broke and kissed this guys ass, but THEN to make great TV and get RATINGS Oprah gets the guy on her show and rips the bastard apart, really cheap Oprah. Honestly, i know U feel duped, blah, blah, blah, HOWEVER u lied to this guy and got him back on your show, you also have one of the worst Research staffs ever, didnt anyone check this book out, check facts, NO, so get your staff on your show and admit they suck. Now i havent read this book, mainly because its about Drug addiction and i havent been addicted, however the Addiction part of this book is true, which is proven, the false stuff, is the dramatic stuff that sells movies, and TV shows like an Oprah. My real question is does OPRAH feel duped about others when they come on her show and Lie. I mean PRINCE saying his child was alright, Hmmm LIE, not that he had to tell her, but come on OPRAH, dont be a hypocrit, oh wait U are. Took the words right out of my mouth. She's as fake as the Hollywood phonies she sucks up to. She's no different than Star Jones(cough 'beard').

I've never been in an Oprah audience and I'm not necessarily a fan but through my employment and through a few professional and non-professional associations over the years, I've had the opportunity to see alot of what goes on behind the scenes of Harpo, The Oprah Book Club and the woman herself. If not for those experiences and exposures I might believe some of the really unfair and ignorant comments posted here about Ms. Winfrey. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

It is his right to avoid questions in whatever way he sees fit about such a loss. Maybe he didn't want to have his loss brought into the publicity of the show, into the spotlight when grief is such a personal thing.

Prince didn't want to talk about it. He was just elusive, as usual. But James Frey claimed that the book was his life, which is a lie. Check this song out at:

A friend of mine mentioned what an odd juxtaposition it was for an apologetic Oprah to be interrupted by a press conference with the president who has yet to apologize for leading America into a fraudulent, horrendous, costly war. I'm no Oprah fan, but I had to agree with her.

Just like she always finds a way to talk about herself when she's interviewing someone. I swear Oprah was interviewing a one-legged transvestite prostitute midget once and somehow was able to relate being a one-legged transvestite to her battle with the bulge..
