Lammastide's review of Dallas, TX, for the Official Org Travel Guide...

It sucks. confused

A great aquarium, Threadcula smile, a fair zoo (though Fort Worth's blows it away), the grassy knoll, a few tall buildings, but where is everyone? At a honky tonk?

If this is the best of Texas, we should try to trade it for Cuba, y'all.

I opted to pass up the art museum, but I did want to see the new sculpture museum. I hear's it's really very good. I didn't think my 4-year-old would tolerate daddy in a trance over sculpure for a couple hours, though. lol

Just my opinion, mind you.

Dallas by all means is big, VERY clean, nice roads, great weather. But it's a ghost town. I was just telling ThreadCula in an ornote that I looked out of my seventh-floor hotel window in the heart of downtown on Saturday night, and I LITERALLY saw 3 people in my scope of vision. lol

That's NUTS for one of the largest metropolitan centers in the U.S. For goodness sake, their airport is actaully bigger that the entire island of Manhattan!!!

Damn you're so right! And it used to NOT be that way. No more 24 hour discos and many of the great gay superclubs are closed never to reopen- Backstreet open since the 1970s GONE!!! Fuckin straights! Why is it that straight people don't want to move into gay areas until that area is restored? Then they want to move their fuckin families in and close everything down! It's a good thing (for us) that we don't go to clubs anymore, because Atlanta isn't what it used to be by a long shot.

But Atlanta has some good ass shopping... because of gay people! lol

My gf took me to a cool restaurant there. Indian food was really cool. Beautiful decor. I'll get the name tomorrow.

I hear you on Dallas. I long to check out Austin.

Yeah, what's up with Hotlanta!?!? omg disbelief

I always go hoping to finally encounter this amazing place that upper-class black folk keep raving about. lol But, again, it's big, clean, and the people are amazingly friendly, but it just ain't...well... hopping!!

I've given up on the city proper. When I'm there, I've had more fun roving around the rural outskirts.

...And, though I'm light in the loafers, I don't like the shopping there either. It's perfect if you wanna look like Andre3000 or Reverend Bling Bling, but I'm a bit more... uh... "Boston bookish nerd-type," I guess. shrug

That's a bet! Holla at me when you come back this way. There's loads more to do.

Austin does have a more active nightlife (6th street), but Dallas isn't necessarily a slouch either.

You don't want any underground ass! Phipps Plaza and Lenox Square is where it's at! thumbs up!
